Hey guys, so I'm in Canada and I'm not having much luck finding alot of stuff for my yaris. Done some searches on the forums but mostly i find pictures rather then info.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for some nice lip kits (nothing to extreme) for a 2009 5 door liftback?

thanks!

If you are only looking for 5 door lip and not bumper placement, so far I know there are:

1. Kaminari body kit, but the side skirt will not fit your 5 door because it is design for 3 door version

2. Seibon bodykit, it is essentially carbon fibre version of Australia YRX model OEM bodykit

3. Diablo series bodykit designed for USDM model, I believe 1 member tried it before but I am not sure about the fitment on this.

I've seen the siebon one around, but I'm concerned with warping over time and/or cracking, plus i would want them painted and it would be a shame to cover some nice CF if that were the case.
Do u know if the other ones u mentioned are made out of poly? or if they are fibreglass?

you have to make sure that they will fit though ... the 2009 front bumpers and headlights have changed shapes slightly and wont fit most of the 2008 stuff.

thats the big concern right there.
Doing a quick search of the ones posted above, some say 2006-2008 while other say 2006+
Wouldnt want to order something and have it all crap out for fitment lol

Yes, this *will* be a problem for you.

As of now, you'd have to look to Japan for any parts, since this facelifted model is not really out anywhere else yet.

so what's the consensus on this then... are there any real definite body kits for the 09 US liftback?

The only kit we have in New Zealand for the 2009 face lift is the sport kit,
the same as the USA .

so would the jdm body kits fit the 2009 yaris liftback since it is a five door liftback?

well since this sport kit suddenly became my only option as of now it started to look better and better by the minute. i guess i just feel like an ugly body kit is better than no body kit. so i spent the day calling around to different dealerships to find out how i can get this put on my car but basically if i didn't get the sport in the first place then i'd have to order the kit piece by piece. like down to the bolts and washers even. and it'd be way too expensive.

but then i called around to ask what specifically is different in the 09 body from the 08 and they claim nothing. they pointed out that they change body styles every 7 years and that any 08/07 body kit should fit fine. anyone disagree? it looks different to me but the guy at the dealership said it's just the black covers over the fog lights that make it look different.

808_Yaris
02-16-2009, 09:14 PM
^Yeah the black covers over the fog lights and the spoiler makes the car look different from the 08-09 models. As for the body kit, it does matter if the car is three door or five doors. Hope that answers your question :)

so other than those black covers and the spoiler there really is no difference? is that what you are saying?

808_Yaris
02-16-2009, 09:21 PM
Yes, from what i can see on my car, i don't see any other difference. If you want to go with the sport option, I would go with it unless you want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on some other body kits, which I may end up doing later. But for now, I'm waiting on my air runners :)

02-16-2009, 09:32 PM
thanks ... now that i'm pretty sure there is no difference i'll probably go with the kaminari body kit. it looks pretty nice... might have to find a different rear lip though as i'm not really digging the kaminari one.

lol... i thought FINDING a body kit would be the tricky part. called around all day looking for a body shop that would paint and install a body kit and none of them wanted to go near it. all of them pretty much told me body kits never fit right and are too big a pain in the arse. is this true? is the fitment usually that bad on these kits? also whats the price range i'm looking at for having a body kit painted and installed? that's why i was calling around today but i couldn't get an estimate from anyone since nobody would put one on.

Get the factory aero kit for the 09. it comes available for 3 or 5 door. Pictures dont really do it justice but i think it looks great in person. the front end for the 09 is different than the 08 headlights are different as well as bumper, grill and fog lamps including housing. Plus factory kits always fit the best and wont damage your cars existing bumper covers should you decide to remove it later. Here's mine

yeah i like the YRX... not sure how to get it though and not sure if it fits the US model.

i'd get the OEM body kit but i can't. they don't sell it that way so i'd just be ordering each individual part from the factory and it's hella expensive. i checked.

hey i'm getting a friend of a friend to see if he can ordered the 2009 vitz rs front and rear bumper and modellista front and rear lip from japan.. checked out the dimensions for the cad and japan specs... both specs are the same except they have a shorter length (whole vehicle) proboly because of the re-bar in japan..... it should fit..... let u guys know how it fits when i get it.. but it wont be till may-june.....

Would the '09 tail lights work over here too? If I'm not mistaken they changed the shape a bit for this year.

If it's not too much trouble, I'd be forever in your debt if you could swing a set of those :D

ae92trueno7
02-26-2009, 01:30 AM
i'm not sure about the taillights... i think the 2008 year yaris has those led taillights....
see how much they cost here....

Mavix
02-26-2009, 10:14 AM
Nah, just double checked, they're shaped differently, cause the rear bumpers changed shape a bit as well for 2009.

from what i can tell bumper and tail lights are shaped exactly the same... only difference in appearance is these...

Actually, the heads and tails are different. The headlight have the dent where the hood and bumper meet. The taillights, on the rear side, taper in as they meet the bumper, so they stick out about 1/2" less on the 09 than on prior years at the point where they meet the bumper.

frownonfun
02-27-2009, 12:13 AM
hmm... i don't see it. they look the same to me... you are probably right though. still i'm less interested in the lights and more in getting a body kit. thanks for the info nonetheless.

agree with you my brother in law have a bodyshop and he had a 09 yaris in last week and he compared it with mine (free shine ) and they are slightly different...just enough so you cant swapt them...:frown:

well i was tired of looking at my yaris sans body kit so i said screw it and ordered the kaminari kit for my 09. got the kit yesterday and the back and side skirts are looking like they'll fit but the front i'm not so sure. it's looking like i'm gonna have to pop those black fog light cover things out for sure or cut the lip to fit around them. hoping to take it in tuesday to a body shop that does custom work and see if they can make it fit with a little modification. although it's urethane so i'm wondering how feasible that is.

anyway i thought this little experiment might prove useful to my fellow 09 owners. i will keep you posted.

Whats the thoughts of the rear bumper lip fitting an 08 model? have searched around and cant find crap.

frownonfun

anything listed for 08 and below will more than likely fit the rear if it's just the lip or skirt. same with the sides. the fit on my kaminari kit up against my 09 looked fine on the rear and sides. front is another story of course.

at first i used self tapping screws and 3m molding tape together to put it up, but found it to look pretty bad close up, and have some tendency to twist the material, creating some wrinkles in the process of screwing, even with pre-tearing a little bit to allow the screw to pass. found that after pulling out the first lip, the 3m tape was a pain in the ass to remove, figured that the lip can be held by 3m alone, allowing for a much much cleaner look in my opinion. I drive 80+ mph daily to and from work (traffic is the same speed here) and have no issues with the lip deforming and what not.

some others in this forum used ALOT of zipties to hold up the lip, very clean look, but it seems to be a bit tedious.

well any body kit/ lip kit pictured on a vitz is pretty much out of the question for those in the US. it's just not gonna happen. not from your toyota dealer anyway. they don't even sell just the lip/body kit for the 09s in the states. so anyone in the states looking for a factory body kit from toyota forget about it unless you wanna buy it already on the car. outside the US could be a different story but anyone in the states needn't waste their time looking for part numbers or talking to the retards at their local parts department. i'd love it if someone could prove me wrong but i doubt it.

yes. its true. same in europe.
they don't know part numbers or anything. but when i gave the part number to them, they found these. we can order any time.
but they don't know the price because no one ordered these before.

the same happened mith the premium horn kit that i ordered. one month we was waiting...

I had these problems in the past, too. I`ve got the right part number but my dealer says "Can`t find it so i can't order anything". I had to find someone at Toyota Europe in Cologne/Germany to order these parts and guess what: It was no problem at all. My dealer is too lazy for that kind of stuff.

Anyways i like that front lip so i will try to order it here.
