Can someone do me a favor? I don't have my yaris with me today.

Unplug your ECU, turn on the ignition and see if the gas gauge still works?

I need to know if the gas gauge is run through the ECU or not.

Thank you in advance.

The ENGINE ecu? Or the one under the dash?

^ duh. Doesn't change that I want to know if it goes through the ECU or not.

The main ECU, in the engine bay. Thanks.

I'm always hopeful, thanks! I'd just rather avoid buying and installing another gauge unless i have to. I have a use for that spot

Sonofabitch.

Okay, so I can get one side of the harness off. But the second harness won't let me clear the clip. I have to unbolt the ECU from the firewall to do this. I just don't have the tools right now.

My hood fell on my forehead. Luckily its a teeny hood. It just sucks cause it was a corner that hit me.

Ugh. Now its bruised pretty good.

Thats what I get for not using the hood prop.

hey kcalb if you read my first post you would see that i wrote "if its relatively simple i can do it for you" so it makes me laugh that you'll insult someone for trying to help someone one when you cant even read the statement that was made in the first place.

easy on the coffee bud, just made me chuckle, not looking to insult. No hard feelings. Take a look at the contest below and join in the "fun", keep on  I'm glad you were able to offer the assistance. It's people like you that make this forum great.

I gotta find an 8, or 10, or whatever that ecu bracket bolt size is.

Hopefully I'll be doing an oil change today. So i'll check it when I do that. Its been 13000 miles on conventional oil. Bleh.

Btw, it wasn't your fault i decided to be dumb. ahah.

I'm about 90% sure that it will work with the ECU disconnected. In the EWD for the combination meter, the combination meter's CPU has a direct input from the fuel level sender (i.e. it doesn't pass through the ECU on its way to the gauge).
