Not sure about that , but my set-up is recaro side mounts on recaro silders mounted to Wedge engineering brackets .

Can someone explain how the geometry of the harness attachment points affect safety? I've tried to Google it but have not found an explanation. Perhaps in another thread.

I like the look Blacksandiegovitz. Just trying to understand how a harness bar attachment is safer.

That confused be for some time too, but here's my understanding. It's a matter of leverage really, I think. Imagine you are moving forward and crash into something. With the harnesses attached to the floor, the belts will exert a downward pressure, while with a harness bar/roll cage attachment right behind the seat, they will pull straight back. In the worst-case scenario of the seatback breaking, the floor mounted harnesses could damage the occupant's spine, while a straight-back arrangement would be holding the occupant in place in a much safer way.

Personally I don't see the point of running harnesses in a uncaged car, the design on the Takata cam locks look pretty nifty though.

Yeah , Its all good man . As of now there is no harness bar for sale , so really no other way to mount these(unless you make a one off bar like you did) So I think Somebody needs to jump on this ???

it'll get jumped on when 10 people show interest and put 50% down lol.. after my hub spacer fiasco on this forum i'm not really interested in building parts for people who complain so much.

How much are you talking for a harness bar? I have no rear seats. Is this a $75 venture or a $250 venture.

You know it really is :laugh: I can't even go surfing in this car now cause the board doesn't fit with with the x-brace in the back and I don't want to pack my carpets full of sand like my last car , thats pretty much the only quam I have with the car . After I do a few car shows I'm installing a thule board/bike rack on the roof , that will solve the surfboard problem.

I know huh , everyday I wish I had a thule system to just throw on a board and hit up the cliffs or the bmx and go ride at the local race track . I sold my dang 10' longboard cause I had no way to get it to the beach with the yaris lol. Like I said I just want to show the car at a couple big jdm shows/so cal hin's , then Its time for surfing everyday/auto-x on the weekends and really get some use out of this sweet lil' car .

No .
They are made for track use . Nitto rear upper strut tower bar , megan c-pillar bar , Miracle cross brace rear X-brace(that really stiffend the car up) also the Takata harness are used by all the jgtc teams in japan , so they are the "real deal" . I'm setting up my car for a nice , fun daily driver / weekend auto-x'er / show car .

Thanks , I'm all over the red recaro replacement seat covers after these ones get worn out . Hatch is made by seibon .

Yeah takata's are FIA certified, the set I have is good till 2011 . The harness's came with four o-ring bolts that screwe right into the stock seat belt holes .

I'm using recaro seats on recaro side mount bracket and sliders mounted on Wedge engeineering brackets . The lap belt is mounted to the wedge seat bracket . I dont see you having any problems using the tranny tunnel to mount the harness's.

looks like you've already lost your back seat, a rear cage wouldn't be a terrible idea. :)

I'd just hate to see you get in a minor collision and damage your spine.

Yeah bro already discussed in this tread... Nobody makes a harness bar for the yaris (Yet) I know of the risks involved with the way the harness's are installed right now and I'm cool with it thanks :rolleyes:

Thanks for replying, I was wrongly concerned that you had mounted it to the sliding part of the seat rail and not to a part that is rigidly fixed to the chassis.

Yeah , the chassis ridgidity gained when installing a roll cage owns , but the added weight from a roll cage in the yaris would really kill what little power this car has Imo . I do have have my eye on this amazing cusco 6-point right here though...

I paid less then what RHD want for my extensive welded in cage, but my cage had to comply with the requirements of our local governing body of motorsport in Australia. The Cusco/ Safety 21 cages are not FIA homolgated and do not comply so we can't use them anyway.

Them CUSCO cages do work as a tension device (I think that's the right term) but offer no real roll-over protection. I've got one in my Supra MKIV but the guy who used to own it says it's more a Clubman Type 'cage or a drifting cage. Nothing professional. No FIA / SFI rating. But CUSCO do make a bolt-on 'cage that's FIA certified.

I know it works because my Surpa's quite old (1995) but feels tight like a virgin!

I wouldn't even consider a cusco cage for anything but a show car.

getting a cage designed for your car usually ends up cheaper and safer and stiffer.

even if you only did a rear cage that didn't go forward of the driver you'd notice an improvement (far more then you are now with the bolt ons).

that and you could get a harness bar put in ;)
