Mirror size...

Does anyone else have a problem seeing in the side mirrors? I almost side swiped another car that was beside me in the left lane. The mirrors seem tiny and I cant get much of a view of the side and rear of the space around me. Just wondering if anyone else had this issue, or is it just me?

I don't have a problem turning my head when making a lane change...side mirrors after all are just another govt. mandated 'accessory'...there are blind spots in the yaris but usually I can see out to the sides and turn the blinker on....


besides I thought you weren't too intrigued with this car and you were trying to unload it or something a while ago?

try going with a curved broadview rearview mirror, 300mm will work if you shift your head to see your blindspot on drivers side. i use 340mm so i can see both blind spots on the sides

Adjust your side mirrors outward to cover the blind spots and turn then your head quickly to double check before manuevering. Use the rear-view mirror (the one on your windshield) to view rearward.
To my knowledge side mirrors are not mandatory but rather a convenience feature offered my the manufacturers. It wasn't long ago that right side mirrors where an option on low-end rides.

get one of those little bubble blind spot mirrors. Helps me see cars in my blind spot.

agreed. you dont want to see your car in your sideview mirror unless you tilt your head in that direction (applies to both mirrors) this will give you a much better field of vision.

Why signal? It just gives the car in the other lane knowledge that you want in front of him. People do speed up when they see a signal. Just kidding.

I wish you were kidding. A lot of commuters on Rte 287 think the left lane is reserved for their use only and heaven forbid you signal to get into that lane ahead of them. Sometimes you just get tailgated for a few miles (while doing 70-75 mph) and other times you get the brights, horn, and finger.
One extra special piece of excrement got so excited when I made him slow to 70 when I pulled into his reserved lane that he called the number on my truck just to yell at me! I've been calling him every few days since just to remind him that called id is a bitch!:biggrin:

Guys, this is not my first car. I know how to adjust the mirrors. You are correct about not seeing the side of your car in the mirror.
I just think that they are kind of tiny. I can't really get them adjusted to see beside me properly in traffic.

u mean convex, right? concave, is caved in center, hence name.. :biggrin:


but yea.. with proper adjustment to ur mirrors, it might help u less likely to cut people off.. and if that doesnt work.. maybe ur head is too big to turn around and look.. :eek:
