View Full Version : BBS rs's 15x8.5 +38

Test fitting for a day trying to figure out what size and offset I want to go with, these are 15x8.5 +38 offset BBS rs's.
EDIT: We have figured the offset to be +16 with the 2.5" lip installed on these RS's!
Tire size is 195/50/15
I think they look really good. The rears are perfect for me, but the front needs to be maybe a +45ish to suck them in a little with this size wheel.

love the rear stance , uber good choice. im not a fan of the silver wheels , but they look great plus with that much tire in th back you wil be a rock. do they make them in any other color scheme?
p.s the last pic looks like you have a wide body in the rear
Yeah, Im thinking of going with gold, or black wheels. Good eye with the last pic! It does look wide! Sick!

One can paint the centers any color you want. They are a 3-piece wheel. Ubber expensive!

I have Tein S-Tech 2" springs with a TRD RSB. Im going to have to go with coilovers to get lower.

No need for flares with a +38 offset ya'll trippin'.fender overlay flares aren't needed till the offset gets into the - Imo then mabey like some rivet on cf flares for a 240z would be pretty badass. Powder coat those rims gold and dump it out on some tein basic's .

well the car is fwd so you probably would realistically need flares when you get into the 20s or less.
when i had my miata i had to run flares with 0 offset 15x8 sportmax 002s so i think flares would do just fine.
on rear wheel cars, a negative offset will start to require flares. otherwise you can fit em

Haha, why FTL? "Safe" offsets and everyone's wheel and tire combos are so boring lately. Time to switch it up. And this isn't even switching it up, people have been doing this for years!

question??
15x8.5 offset +38 vs 16x7 offset +40 = which one will stick out more on the fender??
Thirty-Nine
01-22-2009, 01:58 PM
15x8.5 +38 without a doubt.
Granted, the offset is only 2mm difference, but the width is 1.5 inches wider.
marcus
01-22-2009, 03:08 PM
so width of the rims dont matter its the offset that make it stick out more. so for ex. a 17x8.5 with +40 offset will be the same as 16x7 with +40 offset IN REGARDS TO STICKING OUT OF THE FENDER..is that right..
AdeJong 03
01-22-2009, 03:54 PM
Too much positive offset will make you hit your coilovers or chassis, the more negative offset you have will make your wheel stick out. Take note that the width of the rim plays a major roll on your offset. The bigger the rim the less room you have to play with offset sizes.
Conversion: 1 INCH = 25.4mm
example: 17x10 rim is 254mm wide (0 offset for that gives you 127mm sticking out and 127mm going in)
so if you had a 17x8.5 and 16x7 both with +40, the 17 would stick out more. you would need more positive offset to "offset" that lol
marcus
01-22-2009, 04:21 PM
well now im more confuse..what the point of gving out an offset..alwqys thought that the distance from the hub to the edge of the rims.
so if you had a 17x8.5 and 16x7 both with +40, the 17 would stick out more. you would need more positive offset to "offset" that lol
AdeJong 03
01-22-2009, 04:50 PM
no the offset is the distance from the hub to the center of the wheel
so a 40 offset means that the hub is 40mm out from the center. a 0 offset means that the hub is exactly in the center of the wheel
this also explains why low offset wheels sometimes have that really deep dish
