Rear Latch/Lock Woes

I was working this morning on adding an LED bulb to my rear hatch area and wanted to find the switch to turn the light off while I was taking the side rear panel off.

Like a dumb-ass, I starting messing around with the latch/lock on the bottom side of the rear door and accidentally turned the plastic locking mechanism to lock. Now, obviously the door won't close because it's being blocked by the stupid plastic piece.

Does this make sense and can someone please tell me how to reset the latch back to its original position?

Insert key from outside the door and unlock it?

I'll give that a try. I tried to lock and unlock using my keyless fob without success, but your suggestion sounds like a better solution. True blonde moment on my part.:laugh:
