OK, not down per se, but... I was driving home from the Maine coast tonight on our Yaris's first out-of-town trip when a Dodge Durango that I'd been kind enough to allow to merge into my lane kicked a rock directly at my windshield, leaving a minute ding. I'm not an auto glass repair expert, but it doesn't look severe.
I just needed to vent... I mean, the car has 431 miles on it and is less than a week old!

arrrgh!!! I HATE THAT TOO!!!
I'll be getting my new yaris sometime in the next 10 days and I know that day is coming as well. Those who live in Calgary, Alberta know of what I refer to when I say that I drive the infamous "Deerfoot Trail" twice everyday and that my last car is littered with rock chips on the hood, bumper, windshield....
I wonder how far I'll get before it eventually happens? sigh.....
Sorry to learn about that. I have rock chips on my cars too. I do not follow big trucks closely but have still been chipped:frown:. If the chips are on the windshield and are small, some skilled people can drop some liquid (resin?) on the windshield to make the chips look less obvious. You just have to ask the windshield people about that.
When the chips are on the windshield, the worst scenario is you will have to have a new windshield, it will cost you but your car will still look like new after the fix. If the chips are on the paint (over sheet metal), nothing will be the same again because nothing can compare with the original paint, and unfortunately that has happened to me:cry:!

Sorry to hear tha too! Before completing 500km with my brand new Yaris, someone broke my mirror and after fixing that a stupid lady hit me from behind and damaged my rear bumper!

I've been handwashing my car every weekend since I bought it in April. Just discovered today, that someone keyed my entire passenger side...

Here in montana if you don't have a bunch of rock chips on the windshield your regarded as a foriegner. As soon as you can put some super glue into the hit so cracks don't form off of it. No use for us here in montana to get a new windshield cause you'll just get a rock chip the next day.

Aloha!
Can't believe this happens in Maui. I guess the friendly people in Hawaii like to hang loose (forgive me if I use the expression wrongly, I learned it the last time when I visited the Big Island, I am not too sure of its exact meaning. Vaguely it means relax, right?).
Anyway, sorry to learn about that. Hope insurance can help you.

Hey,foober, does crazy glue really work? Never heard of that before. I have forked out $30 for the first chip repair and then $10 (CAN) for each additional after that. It adds ups pretty quickly when you have a windshield full!
