Silblade Flexblade wiper install w/ pics / review

Just got my silblade flexblade wipers in today. They are a silicon rubber blade that are frameless and curved to hug the windows.

your hub caps match the ones I got about a year ago. I lost one though and had to buy a whole new set.

As you can tell from the pics theres only about 1mm clearance between the 2 blades. At first i thought they were touching and was pissed off but when i used them it turns out they have just barely enough clearance. I dont know if it was just pure luck they turned out that way or if thats just the way they are designed. They do clean extremely well and no streaking whatsoever. They are pretty quite too compared to factory ones. The factory ones seem to give me problems even though they were new. They would wobble and streak. Suposidly you need to give these a week or so to break in before they form to the window so, so far so good. At first i didnt really like the look but its started to grow on me. Looks like the wipers that come factory on some european cars and on the new honda civics.

Either way its a functional mod that cost a little more in the beginning but since they will last years not a year before replacement is needed it just makes sense.

Well they are silicon so it should last significantly longer than natural rubber blades. Even if it lasts only 2 years. You get your moneys worth. Since they are about twice the price of normal blades.

Actually today iw as looking at them it looks like the blades are replaceable. You just replace the insert which only runs a few bucks instead of having to replace the entire thing. And you can put any type of blade in there even the one off your factory ones. So it really is a good deal

I have a set of these, been through two winters now, still have not shown one sign of wear. Love them. I think thats a mandatory mod on a new car. Replace the wipers, battery, and fuses. Thats usually my first to do on new cars, because usually the stock parts are cheapo crap.

How are they with snow and ice?

They work great on snow, ice is another story. I don't think adding new blades helps the actuator move more weight. Just helps with what they can move

Rain-x latitudes FTW

I just got the Rain-X latitudes today. The blades are rubber coated with graphite. Happy so far, we'll see how long they last at $16 each.

So what size did you use on the passenger side? We saw these yesterday at WalMart and the shortest they had were 16" blades. The stock passenger blade is 14"
