Went to Dyno my car today, wasn't expecting much. But was hoping for something. I have the 1.3L 2NZ-FE rated at 63kW (85hp), mine is a Manual. The stock 1.5L 1NZ-FE rated at 80kW (107hp) as everyone knows. Looking at the Dyno chart thread, i realised at the wheel hp is less so the 107hp is actually about 90hp as have been tested by a few members. Taking off roughly 15-17hp would make my stock approximatly 68hp. My results were 75hp, a gain of about 5-7hp if calculations are correct. Anyway here's the Dyno sheet and some videos for your viewing. Enjoy.
Sorry about the incar ones couldn't hold the camera and shift gears. Haha. Wish i could have got the Torque reading too, but the guy probably had no idea how to find the ignition lead he was looking for or something of that sort that he was talking about.

hard to think that they couldnt spit you out a dyno sheet with tq on it....since a dyno measures torque and HP is a function of tq and rpms
would be nice to see a dyno of hp and tq vs rpm too.....vs km/h doesnt say much about the powerband...
and a general idea of hp at the wheels is 13% less than crank hp for manuals and 25% less for autos....so 85*0.87 =~ 74whp
might also be cool to see an SAE corrected hp number too
but coudos for hitting the dyno! what mods do you have?

Yeh would have been nice to see some torque numbers, im guessing the guy doing it didn't know much about the Yaris. Would like to get another proper hp/torque dyno at another shop but cost queit abit as it is. Maybe i'll consider another if i ever get some other mods like headers, etc.
My mods list is below my signature.
Thanks

he should be able to get your info off his computer and print a new dyno sheet w/ new parameters....
i dyno'd my old car at a couple different places and they were always able to pick and choose what they show on the graph....free of charge, too

I actually rang up after i realised there was no torque graph on the paper, then he explained something about how in some newer cars he needs to make a connection to somewhere to read the torque properly. Sometimes needing to remove stuff near the ECU or something. He's either telling me crap or didn't know what he was doing.
But as you said you can get torque from the dyno itself, so im not sure whats going on. Maybe he didn't do a proper Dyno. This is my first time dyno'ing so im not sure of the procedures.
My butt dyno tells me it feels faster then when it was stock though. :burnrubber:

Do you have the chart that plots HP against RPM?

My dyno guy had difficulty getting a good signal off of the wires leading to the coil pack. I have an appointment to get mine dyno'd this Saturday.

The chart above is all i have at the moment, so its not a very good dyno chart. Oh well at least i got a chance to video it on the dyno and let people see what it sounds like. Haha.

If I paid for this kind of dyno run service I would be asking for my money back. The guy seems to be rather incompetent in setting up the dyno to properly run your car.

Yeh that's true cleong, abit of an effort required to do that though. I might just get another dyno run reading which is properly done. I do feel slightly cheated though, but i only realised later when i got home so i couldn't do much.

I found a place near my house, and they use the Dyno Dynamics Dyno. Rather then the Dyno Jet. They seemed to know alot more about it, the printout will have HP/Torque and Air/Fuel Ratios etc. I will post it when i get the printout of this proper reading

next time, have the technician clamp the sensor around ALL of the wires for coilpack #1.. you'll get an RPM reading and your torque numbers

Good man. You're willing to pay for two dyno days. I'll be doing my second tomorrow.

Haha, i'd rather have the proper information then not much info at all. Then at least everyone and myself can see a proper dyno printout.

Ok i got a new Dyno Sheet and a new Video.
The people at Pro Auto were really nice and helpful. They use a different Dyno machine from my 1st Dyno. This time they knew what they were doing and connected the sensors to my engine bay, exhaust exit and so forth.
The lady at the front desk was asking me if they made superchargers or turbo kits for the Yaris. Haha was queit funny, i told her their avaliable in the US,etc .
Here's the results:
(Was pretty hot and humid today like 35-38degrees or something). I did get lower HP results though, it seems abit on the low end. Even after all the mods i have done such as the intake, cat-back exhaust and underdrive pulley. I don't really have a Dyno Chart of a stock 1.3L 2NZ-FE that someone else has, so i can't compare it. Hrmm oh well, at least it sounds pretty good. Haha.

looks like they still didn't get your RPM on there, which means they didn't connect up the tach sensor :(
but at least you got a torque number!

There was an RPM reading actually, as well as Air-Fuel etc being displayed on on the LCD screen. He did open up the engine cover to connect something up to get the RPM reading. I can always go back and ask to print that out i guess. Haha.

well i said that because usually at the bottom the scale is RPM instead of KPH

Nice. Sounds awesome Rui. Oh yeah forgot to ask how much it cost you for the Dyno Run? Maybe i could get my car on the dyno.

Haha Thanks. Umm it cost $100 at Pro Auto in Canning Vale. I think thats about the standard price most places, its pretty expensive. I wasted my money getting it done at Genie, it was like $50 there..but don't ever go there for a proper dyno lol.
Im sure you prob know of a better place though. Haha.
Oh you know how you said you might get the D2 Coilovers, i was talking to lamdog he found like a post on another forum...well not the same model, but apparently their not very good quality.

That's what i thought about the D2. But i will still give them a shot as that arent too expensive..

I always wanted to ask you, you do know what your nickname means in a certain Chinese dialect, right?
Because if you do, I can't understand why you'd want to call yourself that!
