I looked on ebay at detachable tuner steering wheels. What all would be needed? Just the hub adapter and wheel? Does anyone know of a package that includes everything needed?

What you need is a Hub , the quick release hub and aftermarket steering wheel of your choice. You can find a desent set-up on ebay for about 100ish or go full baller and get a full works bell/nardi set-up like I got(over 1k msrp, thanks Jeff !)

check out NRG for hubs......great quality and they work well......as for steering wheels there are a lot of them out there.....and you also lose your airbag when installing this.....and your insurance can refuse to pay out for your car since the safty systemhas been altered.....it does happen.....also you can geta jerkoff cop who will give you a ticket for removing the airbag.

I will respectfully disagree. Works Bell is the only hub that uses your stock clock mechanism for full horn functionality without twisting wires up. It also cancels your turn signals, something most other aftermarket hubs don't do.

If someone knows differently, please post up, I may have missed something in the marketplace.

i have a works bell short hub and nrg version 4 quick release as well as a works bell nardi-momo adapter and a momo steering wheel from an 84 ferrari 308. :) works great. may not be as baller as blacksandiegos but it will be eventually.

and cali is correct. the works bell adapter is the only one that bolts directly on and retains the clockspring. just make sure you get an extra male resistor to get rid of the airbag light if it bothers you.

i know it has an omp horn button...i know the wheel is a momo. ill get a new horn button eventually. also, pardon the messy car, i had to drive for work to make a few parts deliveries for a few hours.

Yeah , for anybody upgrading your steering wheel spend the extra $ and buy the works bell hub . like stated above it installs like stock and retains the clockspring.

Why can't anyone come up with a kit to make the steering wheel telescopic?

The NRG one is a knock off of one of the works one. So its nearly the same.

I'm using the MOMO hub, with NRG quick release, and a 93~mm spacer.

I had to modify the stock turn signal cancel/wire twisterthingy for the air bag. So my turn signal cancels itself when I turn.

This may sound stupid but what is the purpose of this mod? Looks... primarily?

IDK the point of keeping it stock length, but since mine sticks out more, I get a driving position that feels better for me.

4 me, looks + good feeling (smaller steering wheel)!

when you mean telescopic steering wheel do you mean one that adjusts up and down? my 09 does that.

I mean one that goes closer or farther from the driver. So I don't have to hunch over to reach the damn steering wheel. Either I have my knees in my chest or have to have the seat all the way back.

Ok. I feel my arms are too outstretched when my seat is in a comfortable position for my legs. I've already lifted the front of my seat to provide a bit more thigh support.

I'm using the MOMO hub,

Do either of those retain the clockspring? I didn't think so, including the NRG

^ had an nrg hub, could not use clockspring(needed modification) hence the switched to works bell!

Is it possible to retain the horn and have a quick release at the same time with the works-bell? Just wondering. A quick release would be cool, but I'd rather have the horn if it's an either/or thing. Thanks!!!

BTW...where can you buy Works Bell Products here in the US?

i have a momo hub and quick release on my MR2

i lost the ability for the turn signal to auto off after the turn

but its really not a big deal at all since i can just turn it back off by hand

as far as the whole insurance thing, thats total BS

i just had the 2 inspected and it doesnt matter if i take out the air bag or not... they cant just give you a ticket for that, its your choice to have it or not

since the MR2 is a classic i had to get a visual inspection at the insurance company

they didnt care that the bag was removed also

i hate it when random people post up ridiculous things with no real knowledge

In Cali. the only law that I could find related to the removal of the airbag was a pretty steep fine for selling the car on without the airbag. So, as long as you don't sell the car without the airbag, as far as I can tell you should be fine.
