So the hawaii section has been lacking. I was just wondering what mods you guys have been doing recently (or any at all). I finally popped off and spray painted my center console flat black. It looks pretty good. I am planning on getting the twm shift knob in flat black also. It looks good with my redline leather shifting/emergency brake boot. Also good contrast with the black clazzio leather seat covers.

Other than that, I am just waiting to find a good deal on a painted OEM white S model lip kit, or some other kind of already painted (white) lip kit.

I got some foglights on their way too. I ordered them from micro image. However, they aren't listed on their online store (strange). I ordered smoked ones, but Garm said they didn't come in with the order, so I got clear instead.

Ok, just added some life to the Hawaii section. :headbang:

How good are air bags for performance?? How hard are they to install?

I have installed raamat, memory foam, second skin audio damplifier pro, lead composite. Next come the 3 Zapco amps and components.

Also am trying a set of Michelin Exalto tires - the stock tires suck!!!

BTW, are there any good shops in the area who can get us performance parts???

PETERPOOP
02-09-2009, 02:20 AM
I have no answers for you on the airbags. However, you are wanting new tires but not new wheels? Why don't you get some new wheels too for your new tires? It's hard to believe you are putting sounds in and you're not into the exterior looks..

I am not sure of any shops that could provide performance parts for you. They would probably just order them from places you could purcahse yourself online. They'd also charge you way more and a ridiculous shipping fee. However, I've ordered A LOT of stuff from www.microimageonline.com . That is Cali_Yaris's company. He always gives me great prices on shipping to hawaii, if not including it to the already existing price.

You can get the NST underdrive, waterpump, alternator pulleys from him. You can also get intakes, headers, and exhaust from him. Heck, you can buy a blitz supercharger from him too if you'd like.

here is the direct link to the performance parts...

This past sunday I was driving from kahuku to haleiwa and I saw like 5 yaris. Some LBs and some sedans. I highly doubt any of them were users on this board (none were modded). I was wondering if the yaris is being used as a tourist car here in oahu? That'd be gay!

nice pics peter. Would you happen to know if there was a carbon fiber netz emblem for the back? I know there is one for the front on microimage. Lol I gotta take pics someday...

PETERPOOP
02-16-2009, 09:42 PM
Yah, I have no idea where to get a CF netz emblem. I only know of microimage. You could possibly message cali yaris and ask him if he can special order a rear one in CF. But dang, those are expensive!

Did you get the CF netz badge for the front?!

808_Yaris

Lol sorry, let me clarify myself. I would get the CF for the front, if micro image also sells the CF for the back. Because I would like to have CF for the front and back, instead of having CF in the front and a regular chrome netz emblem in the back. :)

PETERPOOP
02-16-2009, 09:52 PM

Buddy, I was just thinking the same about you guys. All i did was go on this site and see what people have done to their yaris. I'm like "Whoa! Didn't know you could make a yaris look actually somewhat decent." So I started to mod mine. Doing things like bringing coilovers/exhaust over from japan (JDM) and feeling like I am going overboard because the only yaris owners in hawaii are middle aged people, senior citizens, and young girls who think the car looks cute! But now, seeing you and a couple other guys modding their yaris, it's making me feel a little bit better! I've only had the car since July and I've done all this stuff to it already. And there are no plans to stop!

*What kit exactly do you have? Was it plug and play? Or was there splicing recquired? So yah, what kit you using for the headlights AND fogs?

808_Yaris
02-18-2009, 11:24 PM
Yeah same here, Modding all the way!! The only thing I'm not that happy with was my hids. For my scion 5000k was a crystal white which was bought from the scion forums. The hids bought from yaris forums, also 5000k has a slight tint of yellow, but when looking at the car as a whole, the light is white. I guess that different hids varies in color...but its ok :)

808_Yaris
02-18-2009, 11:26 PM
The kit i bought is from xenon-vision bought on the forums. The headlights was plug and play. I bought the H11 headlights 5000k too and the hookup was a little different. Took me one hour to figure out the wiring for the foglights X_X

yarisugi
02-19-2009, 12:26 AM
Very nice Peterpoop! Painting the bottom makes it look like the RS model. Now you just
gotta paint the foglight housing white! By the way, do you drive without the front plates?

PETERPOOP
02-19-2009, 01:01 AM
Hey thanks. Yah I gotta get around to painting the fog housings white to match the car. I'm also planning on getting the micro image mesh grill. The grill's frame thingy can be painted also. So I plan on painting that white one day too. However, i'll probably hold out on painting those two things until I find a lip kit. If the lip kit needs to be repainted white, i'll paint the fog light housing and grill frame at the same time!

And yes, I do drive with no front plates. I live on the northshore and the cops don't care about that. The farthest I drive with the Yaris is to pearlcity. I mostly just journey to mililani. I don't see much cops in mililani town, but I do see them on the freeway on the way there. They see me with no license plate, but they haven't pulled me over yet. I AM chancing it big time. That's why I want to stay away from HIDs. Because i have a feeling cops look at a car with HIDs before a car that doesn't have. No need to draw more attention from cops! I will need to put the license plate on when I get my safety inspection in a year or two.

808_Yaris
02-19-2009, 03:26 AM
hids are more common now and as long as you have the right color temperature, the cops shouldn't bother you. since my hids are just white without the blue tint, it should be ok :) i had a nice talk with the recon guy when i had my scion and he said he'll pass the hids with some exceptions.

*UPDATE* My air runners should be arriving anytime soon from japan (2-3 weeks ughhh..)

PETERPOOP
02-19-2009, 03:38 AM
Ah I see. That's lame they'd even want you to have recon for HIDs.

Don't worry, your stuff will come sooner than you know it. I had my coilovers and axleback shipped via freight from japan. That was the worst!

Do you have an appointment set up with a shop to install them once they arrive to your place?

808_Yaris
02-19-2009, 03:46 AM
Recon for Hids are recommended, just to be safe from the cops. I've been running my hids since december and no problems with cops or anyone since then.

How long did it take for you axleback to come from japan? Did you order from bulletproof?

The shop will call me when it comes in, then it'll take an estimated three days for the installation.

PETERPOOP
02-19-2009, 03:49 AM
3 days for installation!? Oh man. You got another DD?

My axleback and coilovers took about 6 months. My friend's uncle lives in japan and got the stuff for me. The scene in japan is huge. You can go to local tuning shops and pick up "used" stuff for a good price. The japanese are crazy. They will buy an axleback, coilover, etc... and use it for 6 months, then sell it! My coilovers were used for about 800$ and my blitz axleback exhaust was brandnew for like 250$. Shipping via freight for both items was about 250$. But you can't beat the price for JDM baby!

Anyways, my same friend might be going to japan next month. I might try and have him get me a set of JDM headlights (no orange reflector)!

808_Yaris
02-19-2009, 03:54 AM
DD? three days for installation was pushing it for them because they said it actually only takes a day. But they have to test the lines and make sure that everything is running ok since they do warranty the parts.

Wow thats a looooong time for shipping lol. its good to know people that go to japan! i'm thinking about going there sometime soon this year to check out some stuff out and go on vacation.

I heard there was a trd supercharger up there, you know anything about that?

I'm using my phone so it's not the best quality...sound came out alright....the second time the phone fell over hahahahaha

My impression of the straight pipe after a week is that it loses power in the lower end RPM but once you get it up to speed it picks up pretty quick. From stop it's a little rough on the clutch. Sometimes I tend to stall out if I don't rev quick enough. I figure that a NST crank pulley set will balance things out.

This is a Secondary Cat & Resognator delete setup with the Greddy Ti-C muffler chopped and rewelded onto a 2.5' pipe. Straight back over axle mandrel bent.

Well here are some things I have purchased and will be receiving in the VERY near future:

Blitz S/C kit
NST Crank lite pulley (pulley used for S/C application)
Megan Header
o2 anti foul sensor
NGK Iridium IX spark plugs 2667

I am also going to get a magnaflow muffler (still deciding which one), and a resonator. Then I will run a 2.25" downpipe from the Megan headers to the resonator, then continue to the 2.25" magnaflow muffler. Both cats will be gone. Free flow baby!

I also need to find out where the cheapest place to purchase Lucal Oil. I will be mixing this in with every fill up I do now. It will prevent the pre-ignition!

gwasabi
03-04-2009, 03:42 PM
Why u gonna get a resognator or muffler? thats not freeflow.....it's just gonna create more resistance. You don't need resognator just a muffler will do. It's not super loud. I'm running without a resognator and my muffler is just fine.

PETERPOOP

LoL. I do NOT trust your opinion on what is loud and what's not. You were driving around with no muffler and one cat deleted and you LOVED it! Those were your exact words. Sean from munkey wurks said it was louder than any honda he's ever heard.

I am going to use a resonator because it will dampen the sound without restricting the flow. No worries beef curries.

I just called exhaust systems hawaii. That place is horrible. Their customer service is trash. They guy was saying they charge around 40-50$ per bend for mandrel bends. I need to locate other shops.

TOLD YA! I don't think you'd think my exhaust setup is loud right now.....and yea I did agree with sean about the straight pipe. I loved it but its still loud lol. Anyway if you want to hear my exhaust setup then we can setup a meeting. Also ALL resognators will restrict flow.....like i said, you don't need one. At most not having one will make your car sound about 5-10% louder...

in my opinion my TiC without the resonator has a lower and nicer tone than when I had it with the resonator

but dont let me tell you what to do lol it's just my 2 cents and I know nothing about cars lol

We SHOULD meet up, but maybe in acouple of weeks. This weekend i have to do a stupid school project and install the S/C. And in between that i have homework/school/work. But yah, i will meet up with you before I get my exhaust set up done, for sure!

TRUST ME, if i don't need the resonator, i don't want it. That's just more money to buy it and have them weld it on!

PETERPOOP
03-10-2009, 10:18 PM
haha. yes I am still running the stock header. I better enjoy the torque that I have now, because I won't feel it again. Once I open up the exhaust, it won't be as torquey, but more HP in higher RPMS! more videos sooN!

No! I'm gonna install this carbon fiber engine valve timing spring compressor that suppose to run the engine super cool and make it so light....like 50 lb lighter which adds like 80hp to the wheel. It's almost like having a blitz supercharger except not as noisy. and switch out all my metal piece in the engine to aluminum so that it's super light! giving me choke choke torque

Got my exhaust system finished. It's pretty loud. I am probably going to throw another resonator on there. I hope there is enough room! I'll do it after the dyno in the next couple of months!

Well you saw my new muffler and hi flow cat? I have a video of it on the performance section and i got new pics of my car in the photo/video section. Other than the muffler/cat, nothing new. I have a scangauge coming my way, and will be ordering my autometer gauges soon.

I'm going to dyno at rad motor sports on wednesday. They got a dynojet. Hoping to put down some decent numbers.
