Whoa, I have one of these!

Bought it Jan 2nd at the end-of-year run out sale down here in Australia. It was manufactured to the 2009 spec but in December '08, so they had to get rid of it because technically it was "last year's". Was 1 of 2 sitting in the showroom in this colour. Got it for Aus$14000 driveaway - the normal price with dealer/delivery/registration would've been about $17300.

I've never seen the colour anywhere else until this thread! I love it!

Saw one at a dealership when I was visiting FL ... too flat for me .. Suzuki color.

I was really expecting a richer yellow with a white pearl coat on it to repesent the actual "jolt."

Whoa am I late to post on this thread. My apologies, as I haven't been on Yarisworld for a while....school and work has been keeping me absurdly busy.

Anyway, for those of you that met me at the December meet...I'm not gone! Don't worry!

I'm Erin. I got my Jolt S back at the end of November. Haven't done much to it yet, other than tint the windows and install my navi system (which is a never ending battle...that damn thing still isn't installed correctly, I think I need a new wiring harness).

ANYWAY, with that being said...here are some of the pictures I took when I first got it:

I also added a sticker to the lower right corner of my rear window:

Our banana Yaris in Saffle, the swedish capitol of driving schools: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/27450805 . A little more yellow than real in that night lighting

Itīs my absolute favorite shade of yellow. We planned to change car anyway and when the community care service for sick seniors living at home got 6 red Yaris we decided to get another color. Itīs our 4th new yaris since 2003 and there will be more of them (or the next version).

The Jolt Yaris is very uncommon in sweden. Iīve only seen one, a promo car with huge Yaris-stickers on the sides, at a Toyota dealership in Mariestad. The sales guys looked at me as if I was some kind of freak :D

Most swedes are very boring, almost all choosing paint work between silver and black. They call it sofisticated, I call it dull. I worked at the SAAB plant in Trollhattan in the eighties and it was very hard to se if a steel paint support rack was covered in gray metallic paint or sand blasted metal clean with a little clearcoat on it. For me those non colored paint works are like no paint at all.

why?

Just rolled 233,000 miles... getting ready to revamp the whole front end with a Yaris S spoiler and Xpel or 3m clear bra by the spring. Driving without one has resulted in my front end looking like I was behind a guy firing a shotgun!?!

I've recently started trolling around Yarisworld again after a very long hiatus. Was reading my old posts and was reminded about the unfortunate demise of my beautiful little yellow jolt S that came to me straight from Japan. It was totaled in an accident in mid-2010 where another driver rear ended me on the freeway (traffic had come to a sudden stop and they were still going pretty fast) and pushed me into the car in front of me. Can't find a picture of the back end right now, but the car was pretty effed up.

http://i.imgur.com/O34aI5x.jpg

Luckily my mom works for Toyota HQ, so ordering a new one through corporate with exactly all of the features I wanted was easy enough, but by the time I was able to order it I had to order a 2011 and yellow jolt was not a color option. *sobs*

So now I have a 2011 Yaris S 3-dr 5-speed manual in absolutely red. It's been good to me and will be turning over to 100k miles in the next month or so.

My first Yaris was a bit of an odd ball when I think back on it now. The yellow color/S combination that was supposedly super rare (I've never seen another one like it) plus the fact that when I ordered it, somehow the power package was left out, so it came completely manual everything....manual side mirrors, hand crank windows, the weird non-60/40 back bench seat. I was pissed at first about that, but got over it pretty quickly because of how funny it was when people would get into my brand new car and puzzle over the crank windows. It also had a 5-speed manual transmission. That car was a hilarious anomaly. I miss it. If I ever have to get my current Yaris repainted for whatever reason, I'm definitely painting it yellow.

Long live the yellow yaris!

Hey y'all....

So I've got this 2009 Yaris, It's got 205k miles on the engine, and I just replaced the clutch. So I'm hoping it will be with me for miles to come.

Also, I thought it would make me feel a little better about the cost of the repair to spruce it up a bit, show it a little love. You can't tell from these pics, but the front bumper has a crack (from a previous owner), and the clear coat is coming off.

I almost never see another Jolt hatchback! I love that there are others out there. Mine's just an ordinary working person's car..... it's completely stock, and I have no budget. But I'd love to fix it up a bit somehow. Shown here a few months ago with my new bike. (The bike has been upgraded quite a bit since these photos!)

Nice to meet you.

Oh boy, I know of at least one person on this forum that is super jelly of your ride based on the color and manual trans combo.

Hey, it looks like you've got some tint on, which is good. Also rocking the naked steelies instead of the hubcaps - +1 for that in my book.

You know, for under $200 and a little elbow grease, you could throw a set of springs on and bring it down an inch or two. The effect would be dramatic.

Actually, I was thinking about getting it lifted. What can I say? I like being different.... not a huge lift, just a bit.

That tint was on there when I got it. I'd never had a car with tint before, and it's grown on me a lot. I scratched the inside tint off the rear window when I was transporting a huge steamer trunk in the back. Shame, too, because whoever applied the tint did a very professional job. Now I know better.

I'm having a good time investigating all the DIY repairs/mods on the forum. Making a short list of things I can do myself when the weather gets a little warmer.

Thanks for the welcome all.

Thanks, man. I got mine used at a dealership with 155k miles already on. I was going for either a Yaris 2d hatch, or a 1st gen Honda CR-V.... whichever showed up first. When I saw the little yella guy I remember thinking "that's a one in a million find" so I picked it up and I've not regretted it. One of these days I'll take pictures of the damaged front end, it's not so glorious from the front. But it's passable.

My only gripe about it, really, is that I wish the stick shift was in the dashboard, like was in the 2003 Matrix manual trans I used to have. It's not quite as ergonomic for me in the Yaris with the stick so low and towards the back. But I still like it. :D

Well, probably the originator-none-greater is Crashy, brought to us by the inimitable, CTScott. If I'm not mistaken, this is the first thread on it:

http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21614&highlight=crashy

CT took a salvaged Yaris and created a supercharged, snow plowing dump truck with it. Yeah, for real. A forum search using the keyword 'Crashy' and threads started by 'CTScott' will bring up several gem threads with pics of Crashy's journey.

For a more practical approach, this thread by justjesus came to mind after your mention of wanting to lift yours:

It only had 7800 miles! (Yes you read that right less than 8000 miles) that's less than 2 5000 mile oil changes! (Though they changed it about 6 times in the 9 years)

It is a Loaded (Power Pkg. Convenience Pkg. Cold Weather Pkg.) Automatic Car

Garage Kept 1-Owner car came from outside of Chicago...I got it @ Dealer in Indiana...We drove our Blazin Blue one 400miles to go get it. We looked like a Yaris Race leapfrogging traffic on the way back!

So happy every time I see one! I don't own mine anymore, sold it to a kid who just turned 16 and needed a car. But in the 5 years I owned mine, only a few times did I ever see another. I always tried to make eye contact and wave. Once I was nearby a university part of town, and saw two young ladies in a yellow, and I waved at them. We were both stopped at a traffic light facing opposite directions, and I spotted them first. When they saw me waving, they both visibly screamed with delight.

On another occasion, I found myself driving immediately in front of another a yellow with a Pikachu tail that I'd seen parked on a residential street, but never saw on the road. When they pulled up to me on my left at a stop, I gave them a peace sign and they were recording me on their smartphone.

Those moments really made my day. That yellow car made people happy everywhere I went. I'm trying to get another one, but it's looking like the new one might be red......
