Just finished putting in my old pioneer deck and i think it works pretty well. I didnt want to pay 90 bux or whatever it is to buy the double din (i need to save that money for an amp and sub) The only thing bad is that there's some kind of interference with my stock radio and the pioneer. Does anyone know if there's something that could help with that?

Anyways here's the vid showing that both radios work

dear lord. thats. just. wrong.

you realise that for 10 dollars you can buy a mounting plate for that stereo. or you can build your own for free like i did...and a wiring harness to plug your pioneer unit to your factory wiring harness is another 7 bux at walmart...

tally:

$17 for a stereo set up that looks nice AND is functional

OR

$0 for a getto ass-backwards install that works about how it looks

so...um...wow...you have done something that few people have ever been able to do. you have left me speechless.

some people just like to do everything the cheapest possible way, and just end up ruining their vehicles and making it look like complete shit. next he'll be putting used home theatre subs in a home made box that's not even sealed etc

cheap is fine untill it gets tacky and fubared. there is a line between cheap and not wanting to spend just enough to make things work...its $17 US to make his system work right and look right. 17 f--king bucks. to make that expensive head unit function right. sorry, thats not cheap....thats a bad idea.

Whoa.. didnt mean to ruffle feathers... It was just a weekend project that i thought would be something different. You cant see it if the glove compartment is closed so that's no biggie to me, plus im not entering it in any car show lol. My stock radio functions completely perfect, so no harm done. And I do have a wiring harness, It's just split between my stock HU and pioneer, which allows me to plug and unplug the pioneer. Oh, and Spades, My Stock HU is different than the one you have which makes it a LITTLE harder to custom fab a place to mount my pioneer. Plus it doesnt take those cheap mounting plates you can buy at walmart. so yeah... I probably would have done it your way IF i had the same non-integrated radio you have.

Yea dude ONLY $17 bucks. Why don't you send it to him so he can get a better setup going?

sorry, i will be the first to admit i am over opinionated and act like a massive prik half the time. it just blows my mind when i see people hook stuff up the wrong way to save like 20bucks. i flip out when people cut up the factory door speakers and hang a set of $200 components to a 1/8" of cheesy plastic then wonder why it all rattles and sounds like sh-t. all they needed was a old speaker grille or a set of $10 spacers.

i mean, i know times are tough economically in the US right now, but, something thats under $20 to make your system sound, look, and perform nice is worth it in my opinion.

as far as the mounting plate, if you cant get a cheap $10 one from walmart or a local stereo shop, check out partsexpress.com, chances are they might have it. im sure there are companies out there making them. at any rate, for a temporary fix, i would disconnect the factory radio to remove it from the equation. i know they have the wiring harness adapaters at wallworld, so you can at least properly patch into the wiring harness without the cutting and slicing, and i bet if the factory radio isnt plugged in you wont have issues with your pioneer deck.

In order for me to buy the $10 mounting plate from walmart i first need to buy the $90double din HU from toyota. Or something like that... I've already tried selling/trading my integrated HU but no one wants it locally. So im kinda stuck with it :-( And im not ready to throw down $90 yet lol.

well, at least unplug your factory stereo and plug in a wiring harness for toyotas and run the pioneer off that. it could fix your problem.
