Although it does not have an official name as yet, some are calling our recent fires "Black Saturday".

Here are some photos of the devastation.

They are normally not timid and get quite agressive with there claws. This one would have been whipped.

They have been showing that koala video on the news here. It's great the firefighter took the time to help an animal and I am the glad the animal was willing to accept help.

It is a huge tragedy to be sure for both the people and the animals. Hope they have it all under control soon.

They believe that one of the fires was deliberatly lit. The rest are being investigated, but lightning strikes started many of them.

It's officially the worst fire and disaster in peacetime of Australia's history. 181 dead (more to be found) and 1,831 homes lost so far.

There are still fires going. 330,000ha+ Burnt (that's over 40 times the size of Anaheim burnt to the ground).
