Toyota unveils 2007 Yaris T-Sport Concept
Refined sports concept for all-new Yaris
A new 1.8-litre petrol engine combines performance with refinement and economy
Personalised 17-inch alloy wheels and Storm Grey body colour
Redesigned bumpers and tail lights
New side skirts and rear spoiler reinforce sports appearance
The Yaris T Sport concept is a design exercise that anticipates the future sports version of the new Yaris, to arrive at the showrooms next year.
This concept has been developed around the philosophy of ‘refined sports hatch’, embodied in a compact bodytype, capable of delivering driving fun to young buyers which, nevertheless, are also seeking a car with a high level of equipment and comfort – something necessary for everyday commuting or weekend trips.
The Yaris T Sport concept certainly looks the part, with strong sports styling. At the front the black mesh grille is a highlight and adds emphasis to the deep bumper design with integrated front fog lights. The rear bumper has also been redesigned and the deep side skirts and rear spoiler complete the aerodynamic, T Sport styling.
Full 17-inch wheels are standard to offer exceptional handling and ride while the T Sport look is completed by a new tail light design and specially chromed exhaust pipe. To add that personal touch, the T Sport badge is added to the front grille.
The Yaris T Sport is finished in a personalised colour, Storm Grey.
A new 1.8-litre petrol engine will complement this dynamic sports package.

looks good!
Looks exactly the same as any other Yaris, but with different wheels?? :iono:
Potential is there, but it'll still weigh over a tonne, and its euro rivals will be yapping at it's ankles in every single corner without a problem.
Toyota REALLY need to redefine themselves with a true "HOT HATCH" >>> that is, a car with a turbo or supercharger.

Is it necessary for this to have been posted TWICE?

Ditto ...
For my sake I hope not, because I'll probably have to get rid of my new xB.
Since it is being shown at Geneva, that means it will be sold throughout Europe. Does anyone have specific stats, like how much heavier it is, and such?
Hmm, something says the administrator can do what he want.
Not to mention news and discussion are two seperate forums.

Maybe, but doesn't come stock with the 1.8 litre.....
I think there are a few minor differences too...
perfect bodykit and huge wheels and nice colour thats the combination.
well, actually..... I don't like the turn signals and break lights as much as what we have now.... maybe just me.

Still haven't seen engine bay pics...
The only difference between that Yaris TS other than badging and the JDM Vitz RS is the fact that the JDM Vitz RS doesn't come in a three door...

I'm anxiously awaiting engine spces. Also, because this is technically a "concept," does that mean that won't hear whether or not this is actually coming to market?
It is coming to market, the TS is a Toyota sporty thing in Europe.
As to it coming to our market, we can only hope

a concept should look more like a concept...
they should've put some fender flares...
protruding front bumper...
rally style wing...
...etc...
I agree. However, the more ordinary a concept car looks, the closer it is to actual production:smile:.

Am I the only one who finds it weird that there is hardly any info on this concept car? The only info is from leftlanenews.com. Nothing on Autoweek.com about it, nothing on Edmunds.com about it ...
That is what happens when no one thinks the car will come to this country.

Either that or when the car isn't coming to this country.
But, honestly, there are pics of other cars that for sure aren't coming to the U.S. (Daihatsus, etc.). But no Yaris T-Sport coverage.
Please, please, don't make me regret having bought my RS too soon!
Time to trade in the RS?? :)

Sorry, no. The car is only a few months old. I will wait until I see more choices in the market e.g. hybrids, diesels, all wheel drives etc.

I think a 2 door hatch with AWD might be the perfect vehicle.

I doubt it, as it will compete with the Matrix. However, I would take the Yaris AWD over the Matrix AWD at anytime!
The Matrix AWD is pathetic to say the least.

I love the look, but that new grille is blatantly stolen from the new VW GTI.
1.8 outta' be pretty darn peppy in that thing... I've got the same one in my Vibe, and though it's by no means a beast, it'll go when you want it to, and that's in a much heavier car...

That grill on the Yaris TS has been out since February 2005 on the JDM Vitz RS, so maybe the GTI stole it from the Vitz...

If they bring this 1.8 version to the US, I promise you guys you will have a 350-400 hp turbo yaris cruising around NY
LOL would love to swap the pistons out of that motor and turbo it with a garret unit
that thing would be a rocket with the Yaris's weight

I wonder how much extra the T Sport will cost (if we even get it in the states). I want a Yaris bad, but if it only cost $1-2k more, I might wait it out. I bet the mpg is just as good as the 1.5L... the 1.8L in a manual Vibe is rated around 36-38 mpg, and as I said before, that's a heavier car.
Oh, BTW, they keep mentioning that Storm Grey color... think that's the only color it would come in?

Let's say, money for "tweaking" the car was no object. My ideal with this car would be to bore it out about 40 over, balance and blueprint the engine, I'm not sure exactly which way, but I have all sorts of contacts for Tin and Tin black (Titanium nitrate coatings) for the bearings and the piston sleeves, put a turbo running about 20 psi......:evil:   :w00t: Something like snake wants to do I think.
:laughabove: :burnrubber:
If money was no object I'd buy a Toyota Supra Turbo and mod the engine for 1000 hp and add AWD.

I started doing taxes for a living in Jan. The entire tax season I did about 50 returns. If it wasn't my father's company, and if I wasn't getting payed hourly, I wouldn't have done it at all.
Of course, getting paid to surf the web and play computer games is a good thing.

IF they release the Yaris T Sport here in the US (not gonna happen, power-to-weight ration in that thing ALONE would make it TOO COOL for the USA) I WOULD PREORDER RIGHT NOW for a 2008 :P If you look at fuel economy on the Celica GT-S you will see that for a 2500 lb car it is very efficient. I would go so far as to say i would get JUST AS GOOD mileage from it as the 1NZFE based on my hard driving style (i'm overworking the little-engine-that-could past efficiency).
