what's the internal volume of that enclosure?

Yes, it is a DIYMA12. It came with some dents in the cone so I decided to invert it. It was also pretty scratched up on the back side as well. I think it was the quality of the chrome job. I took a porter random orbital with a bunch of mother chrome polish and went to town for a half hour. it took out almost all the marks and scratches.

It also needs a very small volume. You can go as small as 0.5 cubic feet. I decided to go a bit bigger given some reports are it sound a bit better in an enclosure around 0.75. This make it a pretty ideal subwoofer for our cars.

The other thoughts I had was dual JL audio 6w3 or 8w3v2.

DIYMA12 are available on ebay from NPDANG(great seller from diymobileaudio.com)

Also this is a SQ subwoofer - it is not meant to rattle the car of create ear deafening boom

The whole car has also been sound dampened with Raamat, damplifier pro, a bunch of solarflex(works pretty well and cheap) and 2" memory foam.

nice setup! must see one day. so what was the estimated cost for this project?

The subwoofer was $125 + about 80$ in shipping The box was really cheap at about $40. It is meant for a truck 12". I then added a bunch or resin and chopped fiberglass to the inside the stiffen it up a bit(3 layers. Nothing is going to make that little box flex!

Overall the project cost about $250.

Here is the Zapco amp and the wiring for the install. Just wish I had more time to get this done. I also have the fronts to get in as well.

How do you like the sub?

I tested some and hated them. Far too transparent for me.

A transparent sub without too much boom is what I was looking for. Sounds kind of strange. I just want a sub which will fill in the bottom end with very accurate bass.

You seem like you're having fun! I like that idea of saving a little money and still having great sound. I'd come listen to the system but, I'm staying on the mainland. What's the plan for the components?

As far as the components are concerned, I will be running Zapco CK16.2. Instead of using the crossover, I will be using 2 different amps, a dc200.2 for the tweeters and a dc350.2 for the woofers. I will run the system completely active. After I have everything set up, I will use the Zapco tuning software and for the Yaris tune out all the peaks and dips in frequency response. It will take some time but I think it is worth it. All the speaker, power, and signal cables are KnuKoncepts.

Where did you get that ground cable from? I want one.

Also from Knukoncepts. It is the 0 gauge ulraflex with 0 gauge ring terminal. It is pretty flexible. The 4 and 8 gauge are unreal. There is a screw to secure it. I then added a bit of heat shrink to seal it. The battery terminal is also from Knukoncepts
