hey everyone,
today i dropped something and it went underneath the passenger car seat. sorry that i dont really know any of the proper terms, but its gone into this small gap under a metal thing which the seat looks like it slides back and forwards on. i reached for it and accidently pushed it in further, and now i really have no idea how to get it back out. is there anyway the seat might tilt backwards or something, to give me better access? =\
any help would be great, thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Get a coathanger, undo it, use the wire to get whatever it is you've lost out.

p.s. are you the guy I gave the Yarisworld card to at pizza hut yesterday?

Sorry, and sorry for calling you a guy when your not. I handed a yarisworld card to a guy with a blue Yaris yesterday, since yesterday two new aussies have signed up.

Okay, you tried that.....I assume you can see it then? Is it metal? If so try a magnet. If not the only thing I can tell you would be to loosen all 4 Torx head bolts securing the seat runners to the floor.....remove the front 2 to allow you to tilt the seat to the rear. Do not tilt so far that you yank the wiring attached to it underneath. see if that works.

After that the only other thing would be to remove seat completely.

Stick some old nylons (stockings, pantyhose, whatever) over the business end of a vacuum cleaner hose and try to pick it up with that. It's worked for me in the past.

I know this might sounds stupid but do you try to reach it when the passenger seat are moved all the way to the front.

Yeah but it may be connected to side airbags and I doubt you'd want them to go off in your face and or need to be reset at the dealer.

Why would a seat be being bolted down to the floor be connected to side air bags ?

they are for sideimpacts not sudden seat gone-ness lol..

idk it worked on my yaris, but its a 08 so it doesn't have side bags.

I'm pretty sure that' wouldn't happen but anyone who can chime in a shine some light on this area..

Side airbags are in your seats if you have side airbags. Curtain airbags are in the panel that goes up the side of the windscreen. I think you may have the two confused.

oh! i wasn't aware they were in the seats!

Now what you said makes perfect sense.

Although just guessing they are only designed to go off from big impacts, im sure you can safely unbolt them and take them out, but if something did go off..yow can you say concussion ? :bonk:

been there.
dropped the rubber ear piece off my earbuds and it just had to run to the abyss. i ended up sliding the seat all the way forward and using a bent paperclip to fish it out of the hole in the carpet where the jack is usually tied down.
[don't carry that jack cause i got a rolling 3ton jack in the car for my job.]

No worries, that is the reason as to why you cant put seat covers on a side airbag car.
