Hey all.. It might be more evident for folks that live in an area where they have snow and use salt for the road…

Has anyone noticed how poorly the wheel wells area sealed from the engine bay??... I have on both sides of the wheel well a spot where to two sheets of metal over lap and water (salt) gets into the engine bay.. I looked in the wheel well area, and Toyota did caulk some of the areas but not this one area…

My only concern is long term and with living in Toronto, the road salt in the winters, it might prematurely start to break down the paint and start to rust this area..

Anyone else notice this with there Yaris (Sedan) that this seam is not caulked from the inside (wheel well)?

Yes, that one and several others in the engine bay. I just try to keep it as clean and dry as I can. Wipe it with a damp rag and wax. In those seams I'll spray a rust inhibitor.

Kind of a double edged sword.

I do like the rust inhibitor idea. LPS makes a great spray but it is messy.

Mine was rust-proofed by the dealer pre-delivery. Thick gooey stuff that coats the engine bay and underbody. Looks like honey.
It was all over my stock springs and shocks which made the TRD suspension installation a messier job than I anticipated.

Hmm.. gonna check mine tomorrow if it's not snowing too much.

i believe have some paste on it before being painted, but i could have been confused with my echo.
