View Full Version : My DynaPack Dyno Results.

Well I finally went to get my car dyno'd. I got it done at Munkey Wurks. It was on a Dynapack Dyno. They say that the Dynapack dyno gives more accurate numbers than the dynojet. I don't know if it's true or not, but it seems to be true. I didn't even break it into the 90whp mark. My best pull was 89.9 whp. I wanted to shoot myself. My mods include: 87 octane, royal purple, aFe intake, NST underdrive/WT/ALT pulleys, Blitz Nur Spec S axleback.

89.9 max whp
95.7 max torque

I'm not going to dyno my car again until my blitz S/C, NST crank lite pulley, aftermarket headers, and a 2.25" cat back set up is hooked up.

Yes, i've purchased the blitz s/c kit. It's being shipped out on monday. I will now join the club of pre-ignition and mysterious noises. Wish me luck.

Has anyone ever run a completely stock Yaris on the Dynapack for a baseline comparison?

PETERPOOP
02-28-2009, 09:59 PM
Not sure. All the dyno results on the dyno thread are done on the dynojet. I am also curious to know the numbers of a stock yaris on a dynapack.

shoulda run the car to redline...

It looks like you're near Dole Cannery? :iono:

It is near dole cannery. Right across the street from home depot and next to best buy.

It was ran in 3rd gear. It wasn't ran to redline because I wasn't sure where redline was. I told him 6100rpm to be safe. When viewing all of the dyno charts on the dyno thread, everyone peaks right at 6k or a little before, i see none of them peaking higher than 6k. Also the guy doing the dyno said it doesn't really matter which gear it is in with a dynapack, but moreso with a dynojet. However, he usually pulls cars in 4th gear if they have an aftermarket ECU.

I ran 87 because the blitz s/c purchase was an unexpected purchase. If i knew far in advance that I was getting this kit, I would have circulated 92 many times before the dyno run.

This low number is fine. I will be returning to the same dyno and telling them to rev it to 6300rpm next time? I will have the blitz s/c, headers, 92 or 91 octane with some lucas mixed in there, an NST lite pulley, ngk iridium tip 7 heat spark plugs, and either a cat back/nitto midpipe/ or custom exhaust setup running 2.25" piping. Either way, i will know my current HP numbers at that time, and that's all that matters. And I KNOWWWW i'll break atleast 90whp! hah

with such high torque numbers it sounds like you could do with a tune there!

with such high torque numbers it sounds like you could do with a tune there!

What's wrong with high torque numbers? :iono:

The guy doing the dyno said the ECU was doing all sorts of stuff during the pulls and the restricted stock exhaust piping with the cats came into play.

But he did say how much he liked my wheels, suspension, stance, and torque numbers.

Tamago

What's wrong with high torque numbers? :iono:

not a thing

what i'm saying is.. if you yield high torque numbers and low hp numbers, there's something wrong with your tune.

remember

horsepower is just torqueXrpm/5252

PETERPOOP
03-01-2009, 12:25 AM
Well once I put everything else on, and the torque numbers still remain quite high, I will look into getting a tune. Can that be done with the blitz kit since it's pretuned?

Tamago
03-01-2009, 12:30 AM
possibly. if you can alter your air/fuel ratios, definitely
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e239/fatherdutami/Project%20Angry%20Panda/IMGresize.jpg

check the hp differences between 5 pulls, and all i did was remove fuel.. wish i'd known the turbo was blown :(

PETERPOOP

so you were running rich at first? did you have a wideband a/f gauge to determine this during your pulls, or could you tell with the dyno?

Way to go PeterPoop. I'm glad you got a baseline of your car. I wanted to shoot myself after pulling 90 hp before the S/C. It's sobering because the car "feels" so fast. I can't wait for your dyno chart after the S/C.

I'm jealous of your numbers, Tamago, but I'm confused. What do you mean you removed fuel? You drained fuel from your tank? You changed octane?

Peter, didn't he measure your air/fuel ratio? I thought I saw a sniffer in the tailpipe.

PETERPOOP
03-01-2009, 03:56 AM
He did have one there. He was showing me stuff on the computer about that, saying how the stock piping is restricting some power. However, his dyno sheet he gave me doesn't really show anything! I look at your guys dynojet sheets and it shows temp, mod lists, and all of that jazz. I don't know if he was lazy or what?

When I go back for the 2nd dyno run (once everything else is on), i'll be sure to have it done right this time. Since they are open until 7pm, i'll show up there around 6pm, when it's a little cooler here.

LtNoogie
03-01-2009, 03:59 AM
He may still have the a/f readings stored in the computer. Ask him if he can give you a printout. That's how I knew that I went from a normal a/f ratio to lean AFTER the S/C.

PETERPOOP
03-01-2009, 04:00 AM

the Dyno has a tailpipe sniffer that helped me know where to pull out fuel. i only took 5 pulls, i met my goal, didn't try to make any more power.. 1NZ won't take it anyway

So Tamago's real name is Jenni

I think the most accurate dyno would be a SINGLE STANDARD to rate power. Its only more 'accurate' than another if there are so many standards to go by. So dumb.

Not to say I'm bagging on the Dyno you did. I just think its lame everyone has a diff way to rate power.

Me? I use my iTouch's Dynolicious. MOST ACURATE DYNO EVAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I have someone hold the iTouch on the rear seat, and launch it foreward, as I accelerate, its like my quarter mile breaks 10 seconds. FASTEST YARIS EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Garm, eat your heart out. =]

And If I swing my arm in a circle, I can get a zero-60 in less than 3 seconds.

well, considering the SAE got together and decided to change how to measure horsepower, what, last year? i'd say it's just one of those things.

a dyno is a tool more than it is a tell-all. just make sure to either use a properly calibrated dyno or at least the same dyno every time you want to discover your newfound horsepower.

Wouldn't you get a more accurate and true hp numbers if you id the dyno on a Dynojet?

The problem with the dynapak is that you're doing the dyno with no wheels. So you gotta factor in the weight of the wheels also. Granted you're running SSR's and they probably weigh anywhere form 8 to 10 pounds for the wheels alone. Wheels and tires you're probably around 30 to 34 pounds each.

Actually if you research, dynapack is more accurate. The dynonet is more generous with numbers. Sometimes a 10% increase oppossed to the dynapack.

This is a quote from cali yaris: "You will get more accurate numbers with the DynaPak (chassis dyno) than with a DynoJet."

So there you go, if garm says it's more accurate, everyone else is wrong. Thank you

Well thats for stock. I'm talking about aftermarket dynos.

And anyways, who cares if there is a 10% flux? As long as its a standard, it wouldn't really matter.

I will probably dyno my car on both the dynapack and the dynojet once I am done modding my car. Then we can compare numbers. And if the dynojet says I have more whp than the dynapack (which it will), i am going to tell everyone the hp numbers from the dynojet and not the dynapack! hah.

Call them up. Sean is the main guy who runs the shop. There are only like 2 guys that work there. Tell him you are friends with peterpoop and thomas (gwasabi). You usually don't need an appointment if you go there on saturday. I showed up at 11am when they opened, but they came a little later (11:30ish). His wife is pregnant. Anyways, it takes him like half an hour to set the machine up. So the entire process is like an hour and half. Only costs 95$ out the door. Nice guy.

How much money have you spent in mods? How much MORE money are you about to spend??? I can understand modding for fun or just to say you did it...but looking for horsepower performance from a Yaris is like looking for gas mileage from a Viper...it doesn't make sense.

But you keep on keeping on buddy.
