I thought these clips were pretty funny. Seriously though, I love my Sprint coverage so I'm thinking of getting an Instinct. I'm definitely not getting an iPhone due to lack of coverage where I need it.
Any thoughts?

instinct sounds like its pretty good :) I have an iphone and compared to other phones, I like the iphone because of its many applications that can be downloaded. But that's my personal opinion ;)

iPhone > Instinct.
I had an Instinct AND work for Sprint, so I'm not biased, trust me.
The Instinct IS a decent phone though. Haven't seen too many come back.

i'm surprised GSM has worse coverage than CDMA.
(sprint is CDMA right??)

Sprint has more 3G coverage, but AT&T has more overall coverage (and their 3G is constantly expanding). I've been using an iPhone for about 6 months now. I find that even in 1G areas web pages load quicker than they did on my Windows Mobile phone when it had 3G coverage. My only beef with the iPhone is the lack of voice prompted navigation. My WM phone had a built in GPS, so I only had to carry one device when I traveled.

If Verizon gets the iphone, then coverage will be no problem. ATT has bad coverage. My friends iphone looses all the bars, while my Helio still receives at least 2.
Let us know your opinion on the instict Garm, im thinking of switching over to another carrier since Helio is now part of...Virgin Mobile >_<

I don't understand coverage or lack of coverage? Every phone I've had, had coverage, except in elevators or deep in buildings. Do you mean, like in the middle of the Mojave Desert?

I just got a G1 a few weeks ago and I love it, mainly becuase all carriers coverage sucks up here, but tmobile with nationwide roaming was the best

Garm .. go with a Blackberry. The Instinct isn't as "wow" as they make it out to be. How do I know? Me and my girl both have one and got them pretty much when they came out. I'm giving it another run since there was a new update that does away with the freezing. Plus, there's no applications really for it. That's just my opinion.

I like the Iphone. Just think of all the apps you can download as mods :D
I don't have either, but some of the apps on the iphone are just badass.
But really, if you have already seen the coverage of both companies in your area, and there's a big difference, go with the better coverage. No amount of fanciness will relieve your aggression from 10 dropped calls a day.

yaris-me, here's what I mean about coverage: the iPHone doesn't work inside my house, but it does out on the sidewalk. It doesn't work at my son's mom's house or at his school. It has spottiness in the local canyons.
My sprint phone works perfectly all of those places - that is the #1 consideration.

It is worth a call to AT&T to ask them WTF is up with their service. There is nothing quite like the iPhone. Often imitated, never duplicated.

Garm, I know you did not ask about this phone but it's what I chose over the iPhone.

I switched from ATT to Verizon, on top of that I also switched from Blackjack to the BB Storm.
The Storm has its quirks that need fixing, but overall I am glad that I didn't stay with ATT. I have not dropped not a SINGLE call since I switched to Verizon.

Did you have to update the phone when you got it? That was the case with the Storm because before the update when they first came out, they ran like crap. Then the update came and it's doing pretty well.
Unfortunately I had a bad experience with Verizon about 8 years ago where they screwed me with hidden charges. Ended up with a $1000 bill and luckily I had sold my Sprint phone and plan to a buddy of mine so basically he was paying my bill. Now I just didn't take the phone back from him. At the same time when the Verizon thing happened, he came to me wanting to give my Sprint back to me stating that he want's to open up his own account.
I had switched to Verizon in the first place because at the time, the service sucked where I was at. Sprint has come up since then and then the merger with Nextel. Only thing I don't like about Sprint is the fact that there isn't really any great variety of phones to choose from.

Just switched and bought a Samsung Omnia. Pretty cool phone, a bit slow in response time when touching here and there, but barely noticeable. Great if your looking to get away from the iPhone crowd. My whole DAI building is full of iPhone users~

A buddy of mine that went with the Storm was heavily looking into the Omnia. Only thing that worries me is the whole Windows mobile with those phones.

Yeah, the last thing i want is Microsoft behind my back when making calls and being reliable :(. So far the phone is good. It runs on a faster EVDO conection than other phones. The phone crapped out on me today for some reason just shut off. I tried to turn it back on and it wouldnt. I simply took out the battery and started charging it, and than cured the problem. Other than that, n olag or problems w/ this phone.
Isn't the response time on the Storm a bit slow Treyz?
I hope you Garm makes a good decision on the phone he gets. Btw, they have a deal on this phone, $240 w/ two year contract, -$70 rebate bringing it down to $169. I got mine for $218 because of Home Depot...good deal~

That was the original problem when they first came out. According to people that have the phone, there was an immediate update that took care of that and is up to speed. A friend of mine just did the recent update, but his contact list was missing. He's fixing the problem through backup/systemlink.
I played with his phone, but wasn't a fan. The whole screen in a big button that pushes down and clicks (where their "click" in the commercials come from).
The Instinct clicks as well, but when you touch the "buttons" and vibrates as well for an extra confirmation.
Now running for about 3 weeks with the new update for the Instinct and I still encounter some freezing. Not as much as I used to but still does occasionally. I'm switching back to Blackberry, but might be leaving Sprint if they don't come out with better phones. All the other companies have the newest phones and I thing the newest smartphone is still the Instinct and Curve. HTC I won't touch at all.
