Used to live in Fairfax... miss it a lot. Lots of Yaris owners from VA here I see. I miss VA and DC!

Not too many Yaris owners in TX though... Texans love their SUVs and Trucks too much I guess.

Thanks for reviving this thread. I thought I was the only Black 3-door in NOVA until yesterday, when I spotted another in my neighborhood!

But what's this about exhaust mods in VA? I bought my modified Base from NJ and immediately had to take the 5% tinting off the rear sides and back windows. Are you telling me that my Meagan header and axle-back exhaust are also illegal?

yeah, it sucks! ANY modification to an exhaust system is illegal in va. im in leesburg and i have friends that have been pulled over and ticketed for it. but if you google "exhaust mods in va" you'll see.

So I read the statute, which addresses "Exhaust system in good working order". Neither the Commonwealth of Virginia nor the County of Fairfax are concerned with "mods" - they're concerned that "[The] exhaust system..not be deemed to prevent excessive or unusual noise...in excess of that permitted by the standard factory equipment exhaust system...of standard make."

Did you pass VA inspection with your modded exhaust? Yes. Point that out to the cop. And point out that you're not making "excessive or unusual noise". Be polite. Don't piss on his tires.

Well then maybe it depends on if the cop is having a hood day or not! I dont know ive found other statutes stating on the lines of anything but factory is illegal. I dont have the nards to even test it but good luck!
