View Full Version : Custom exhaust or pre-made exhaust - which one makes more power?
Hey guys, I have a naturaly aspirated Yaris HB just like the majority of us. Which exhaust system actually makes the most power for our cars???
I live in Hawaii - is it better to get a mandrel bent exhaust system from the header back or buy components such as a nitto midpipe and such and assemble my own?
Which is the better way to go???

If your gonna stay N/A then stick with one of the premade ones

It really depends on the local availability...
You'll see, if you have a competent muffler shop near you.... You can probably have made a custom exhaust from the cat back for the same price it will cost you a brand name axle back.
The custom piece won't be as shinny though!
Regarding power, you will always obtain more gains from a cat back set up... as long as it is done properly.

From What I experienced, The cat back setup that I have (Which is straightpipe back from the first cat) actually loses torque compared to when I had the Greddy Ti-C Axle Back. I think if it's for N/A you should go with a prefabbed one and add grab yourself a Corolla Throttle Body. That throttle body made a big difference especially on the H1 when your in higher RPM.
When I didn't have the TB in the car was hesitant to go over 60 but with the TB goes 80 easy.

Since your in honolulu, If you want to meet up, I'll let you do a little test drive on my car so you can see the difference
Hey Gwasabi,
Corolla throttle body? What year? I should definately look into that.
