This week was belated Christmas for my Yaris. I finally bought a set of Clazzio seat covers from Garm, and finally got a moon roof installed (and got it tinted, while at the shop).

I have been researching sun/moon roofs since I bought my 09, back in October. After reading numerous articles and speaking with a bunch of body shop people I decided on the Webasto brand. I intended to install it myself, but Webasto only sells to authorized installers, and the few who will sell you a kit, without installing it, get nearly the same price as it costs fully installed.

So, after doing some research on installers I decided to use Attention To Detail, in Middletown, CT. Their installers have been putting in Webasto roofs for over 20 years. I was very pleased with the quality of their work.

Here are some pics:

$1,380

I could have done a good self-installed pop-up for under $500, but I really wanted a power roof.

The glass is 18" x 31.5", so when you open it, it really feels like a convertible.

How long was the car at their shop?

Very nice job. Good shop choice too, I live right across the river from Middletown, my friend has used them a few times.

It takes them about 8 hours to install it, and they keep the car overnight to allow the sealant to cure. So, you drop it off one morning and pick it up the next.

wow, that is beautifully done and complements the car so well... the interior is already bright and airy as it is, but this is really the cherry on the top

Very nice....I checked with the dealer here and they wanted $1500. I don't think their quality would have been as good as yours.

Seat covers look nice. I like mine alot.

The Clazzio seat covers are awesome. They add a layer of padding that really makes the seats more comfortable. Combine them with the moon roof, and I feel like I'm driving a mini Lexus.

The net (moon roof assembly - piece of sheet metal removed) is just over 30 lbs.

thats a class a job what kind of gurantee do these roofs and installers offer?

Webasto warranty:
Hollandia 700 Series Inbuilt Sunroofs offer a lifetime parts warranty to the
original owner.

Installer contract terms say "Labor is warrantied for life".

Does the roof lose any structural bracing that went across?

Looks super good, I want one.

LtNoogie

Yeah, I was wonder if there is more body flex with that hole.

eTiMaGo
03-08-2009, 04:43 AM
there shouldn't be, I don't think the roof "skin" is strong enough, and there are a few crossmembers inside. Removing one of those would cause trouble for sure, but it looks like the moonroof fits right between the two front ones, as if Toyota had considered the possibility and spaced them out a bit more

CTScott

There's definitely less roof flex with moon roofs frame. They were initally going to install the Webasto 4300, but they had to go with the slightly shorter Hollandia 730 due to the position of the roof reinforcement member in diagram.

That's actually correct - I checked with the installer and they did cut the roof support and bolt the sunroof frame to it.

I've seen a couple of people on here with sunroofs. One of the prior ones was an Inalfa spoiler type (where the glass slides above the roof, rather than in the head liner).

My 09 has the full complement of airbags. The curtain side airbags are mounted above the door frames, but they are quite a distance from the frame of the moon roof.

Not just a bump of a great (old) thread, but I'd be interested in hearing how the Webasto power moonroof has held up for a couple of years. Any leaks or electrical/mechanical issues?

No problems and no leaks. Since I installed seat heaters last winter, I even use it in the cold weather.
