if you love to read (i do ), then it seems really amazing, like a blackberry for books. BTW that picture is of the first generation device, they just released the Kindle 2

just too pricey for me to be able to solely read books/newspapers....etc..

nothing will replace the good old fashion paper book. i love the smell of a book. this gadget needs batteries, books don't.

and here I thought you were a true geek :iono:

If only they sold the damn thing to Canada I would have picked one up ages ago.

360 bucks AND you still have to buy books?(for 10 bucks each)

The 60 dollar warranty only covers ONE drop? "Two years of coverage (limited to a single claim) for accidental drops or damage"

No thanks, I'll go to the used book store and pick up my books for 50 cents a piece.

I have the Sony Reader. Love it. Don't miss paper at all. I travel quite often for my job and it beats carrying around bulky books any day.

The original Kindle is an ugly beast, at least they got smart with the design of the Kindle 2.

a true geek knows the balance of old vs. new! without the old you cant appreciate the new. and some old things are better than new (ie car build quality)

true true, and there is something nice about a row of good book spines lined up on a shelf... not to mention the convenience of readily-available bathroom reading material
