over a constant speed the GPS will be more accurate than the speedo, however the refresh rate is not fast enough to give you instantaneous speed like the speedo. also depending on the environment (tall buildings ,tunnels etc) will prevent the GPS from giving you a good on the fly readout. now this is minized with AGPS (assisted GPS) , for now mainly in cell phones (uses the the cells sites to update the position when the GPS signal is low or non existent.
ur right about that then again i just got my garmin 255..pretty kewl gadget..also tells to to drive on proper speed to save gas with the ecoroute features.. come in handy for hypermillers. well sorta not as good as the scangauge2.

thanks guys... yes, my GPS tells me the speed however a few of my friends tell me that if I hook up the speed sensor wire (which I did -thanks Arquitect-)it would make the GPS more accurate since it calculates both speed reads (cluster+satellite) well I'm no tech so that's what they told me though, also after hooking it it's a little better, still off though...my AVIC-D3 that I had before this one was 100% accurate (tested many, many times) in the city or not...
