How come when you get a new car, the windshield is perfectly clear everywhere, but after a few months you start to notice where you're wipers wipe? This is very noticable when you're getting your car washed or it's raining... the water seems to collect differently where your wipers don't touch. I hope that makes sense. Is there a way to restore the windshield so that it doesn't do that anymore?

the wipers are scratching the glass

1. don't use your wipers
2. use RainX instead

You need to fill the scratches in the glass with some type of wax. The coating of wax helps to keep it form getting more scratches. There is something called “glass wax” or better know with a higher price tag as “rain x”. the glass wax can sometimes be found in the cleaning sections of stores in a can.

I love love it love it love it lubbbbbb it.
Get the wipes though... the liquid stuff sucks.
Its about 3 or 4 dolalrs at walmarts.

dries quickly, leaves it clear and shiny and doesnt leave a residue :D

Clean your windshield with windex and steel wool size 0000 and that will polish the glass..... use a paper towel then your choice of glass treatment.

You are really not scratching the windshield but cleaning it with the wipers..... try the steelwool and that area should vanish.

That was an AWESOME question - I have always wondered/been frustrated by that as well. +1 for this thread! lol

And thanks for the answers ... I am going to start using RainX

+1 for the Invisible Glass, I use the aerosol can version, it works great and it's tint safe too!

yeah, umm it's only tint safe if you remove all the cleaner immediately. I learned this first hand.

if you do the tint, best thing to use is soapy water. PERIOD.

Yeah they do recommend soapy water at the tinting places. I used it once, it was fine. Don't know what can happen if I leave it on longer, although I don't think you need to let it sit before wiping. :)

i want to say even on the can, it says wipe immediately...
I got distracted once, and the result was peeling/flaking tint material....

I have llumar mirror tint on my civic

and I got distracted after spraying it on the window ( I used it on the inside and outside of the glass as it doesn't streak ) and I went back and it was dry again so I sprayed some more and proceeded to wipe....and I started seeing that chromatic effect, and flakes on the newspaper....:frown:

Everyone that said invisible glass.....wipes or spray? I just dealt with the armor glass wipes and they were garbage, so I'm weary about wipes again. Gonna go to wal mart Saturday and get some.

Never experienced that weird wiper thing. Though I randomly bought that Invisible Glass stuff the first time I've washed my car and ever since. Thats probably why I'm not experiencing it. xD

There are times that no matter how well you clean the windshield and glass with a glass cleaner. You need to keep your windshield clean, both for appearances and safety. It's only tint safe if you remove all the cleaner immediately.

Cleaning windows is one of the most tedious tasks you will face, but it's definitely worth doing. Besides being a danger, the effect of dirty glass can quickly ruin the appearance of your car perfectly polished and waxed. After completing all the tasks of other details, put the perfect touch in your car, your car glass detailing.

Good information and had never experienced something strange wipers. Although random glass bought these things unseen the first time I've washed the car and forever. That's probably why I'm not experiencing.
