Eyeing the long range forecast for spring break, so tempted to put them on.

Easy enough to swap the steelies back on if the weather turns. Anyone else sick enough of rocking the snows to consider this taste of spring?

I threw my new ebay Mini Cooper wheels on this week. I think that guarantees that we'll get at least one more nasty snow storm.

WeeYari

No doubt about there being at least one more good blast. I'll probably talk myself into putting them on under the "justification" that warm weather is hard on the winter tire compound.

Thats the problem with Alberta. Just when you think the snow is gone..bam it starts again.
But with +3 to + 11 forecast for the next week it's paining me to look at those snows tires any longer.

so put on your summers, and if it snows, put the winters back on.. it can't take more than 20 mins, right?

Tenzo. Close to what Crandall runs, except his are DC-5, mine are DC-6.

Tires are Kumho 195/55/16 and springs are stock.

You still running the Miata wheels? Didn't realize they were that light. My summer setup is heavier than winter setup.

the miata 14's are 12.7lbs....oem 14's are 14lbs....not a HUGE difference....but enough!

I'll keep my winter boots on for a few more weeks. I may be driving to Regina in mid April and might benefit from them in case of a freak storm. Beside, I don't mind wearing them out. I need to upsize to a taller profile for next winter and save my front spoiler some grief.

Oh, and the Goodyear LS stockers are horrendeous in the snow. All-Seasons WHERE?

Adriaan

still got the miata rims, until a good deal on volk ce28n or te37 comes along. Also gonna see if in need an alignment on the car, from the engine swap.

Change my back to summer today. Had to take a baseball bat to beat the rear wheels off due to rust. These are new steel rim installed last year in Oct. Anybody else have problem with the Toyota rim fit so tight onto the axle?

I put my summers back on last Monday and ran the Forks again. I hit that new really wavy part in the road at a good 115km/h and my friend got airborne off the seat, LOL. Usually when I finish the Forks road I turn around once I get to Hurontario and head back through to Mississauga rd. On the way back on the westbound lane pretty close to Hurontario (maybe 100-150ft west) I left a good 40-50 ft of rubber. Felt nice to actually be able to have some wheel spin again without the threat of completely losing all my tread. I didn't double back to check my marks, just saw them in the rear view. Nice cloud of blue smoke, marks looked really thick, too. That road is so fun.

i had that last spring too....a tight fit is good....i sprayed some penetrating lube onto the hubs an hour before removing them....

i had a friend who would loosen the lugs a bit and then go for a drive while turning hard to loosen the wheels....

i like my way better, lol

The way the Toyota mechs taught me to get stuck steelies off the hub is so take all the lugs fully out, then turn your back to the car and give the tire (not the rim) a hard back kick with the bottom of your foot. Sometimes have to kick it twice, but it works very well. When you put the rims back on, apply a very small bead of anti-sieze around the hub.

i huffed on mine like that real good the other spring...wouldnt work...hence the penetrating lube...

Looks like I'll be flying to Regina so driving through storms there will not be an issue. I was tempted to put on the alloys on Wed. past but with snow in the forecast for next weekend I'll wait. Snow going with the Goodyear LS three-seasons is NOT an option.

I finally got some decent shots with my summers on. My car would really benifit from a 1-2" drop. My buddy's MS3 there has the Mazdaspeed coilovers, 20mm lower than my stock suspention.

Things are good, starting to enjoy the west now that weather is good.
The drives through the mountains are a blast and sure beat the 401

Should be getting my Alberta plates this month so it will be nice to ditch the front plate soon.

People still ask me how much gas it cost to drive the yaris from Toronto to Calgary and there floored when I tell them about $200

How's the GTA eastender doing in the west of Canada with his Pacific Blue? Hope things are well.
