Wanted to get an idea of the 0-60 times/feel before I change to my 2.25" header back ( no cats) exhaust.

The first launch was bad, and the second launch I tried not to spin the tires.

Nothing impressive.

Here you gooooooooooo....

Original video removed.Updated one on page 2.

0-60 in about 10 secs..... sweet!

Both runs were 10 second runs. Ehh.

PETERPOOP

I counted 8ish on a stop watch.

Once the needle moves is when I started the stop watch.

0-60 in about 10 secs..... sweet!

I HOPE this is sarcism. Nothing sweet about it. lol

The first one I gave it too much gas, and the second one I didn't even rev at all before I started going.

I counted 8ish on a stop watch.

Once the needle moves is when I started the stop watch.

I listened to the sound of the engine and then paused the video when the needle hit 60.

even if you listen to the sound of the engine, doesn't mean i let go of the clutch yet. i think you gotta refer to the needle.

anywho, definately not great launches, so I know the time can be improved. But I don't got time to do anymore before my exhaust gets installed. So I'll do some after my exhaust is done. Maybe i'll get it down to 9 seconds on noogie's counting. *fingers crossed*

There's some creep before you launch. You could hold your car still by using the handbrake.

Nice! I counted first run 9 sec, second run 8 sec, mine is around 7ish since it has lost about 100kg, bypassed AC and also with the new big TB, I would love to do a vid of mine, but my camcorder broke.

7ish, nice. I am also planning on getting the 1zz TB after my exhaust.

What kind of exhaust you running? Axleback? Cat back? Headerback?

wait doesnt the stock run an average of 8.5 to 9.2 sec..well 0-100 km/hr

the s/c should be around 8 sec could be less..

8.66 seconds is what i got for run number two

sounds like your clutch is pretty unhappy though.

i just watched my 0-60 vid.. around 6.5 seconds.....

turbo > supercharger? ;) ;)

turbo > supercharger? ;) ;)

Yeah, yeah. :)

Most of us have very limited tuning skills so bolt-ons, including the S/C, is the extent of our "tuning"

More like: 155 whp > 130 whp ( IF even that )

:P

I love turbo and supercharger. I don't discriminate.

I tried to do a faster time. I believe it is, just by a hair. For those with stopwatches, what are you clocking it at?

I start the time from when the needle starts moving.I stop the time right when it hits 60. Since the camera is on the right, it is actually a hair off.

HORRIBLE quality. Sorry. Squint those eyes.

Click "HD" to get a bigger version of the video. Click full screen too if you want a closer look.

I am confident that with my 2.25" header back exhaust setup (soon to be installed), I will be able to break into the 7s. Then I have a 1zz throttle body on it's way too. So if the new exhaust doesn't get me into the 7s, the combo of the exhaust and TB should! hah

It's pretty humbling seeing these times. Especially when the torque and overall power of the car seems MUCH improved. Oh wells.

Doesn't a supercharger make an engine lag slightly at first, but then go faster once it hits a certain point? So wouldn't a naturally aspirated yaris get a slightly better 0-60?

If I may suggest, a useful little device which I have (but never really fully used yet), the a'pexi RSM:

http://www.apexi-usa.com/product_electronics_detail.asp?id=199&pageNum=1

Think of it like a Scangauge for performance data... It can display RPMs and speed, but also measure 0-60, 0-100, 0-200 (), quarter-mile, estimate horsepower, etc etc

It's a little pricey around $250ish, and to get the most accurate results you'd need to get an optional G-sensor, but it'd be waaay more accurate than taking a video and timing it later with a stopwatch

Plus it looks cool and works great as a semi-heads up display for tach and speedo (i.e. put it on your dash in front of you like I have)

that's a turbo. S/C is instant power since it works off the belt.

Ah maybe one day. But I still neeed to pay for my exhaust setup, autometer electric boost/vacuum, oil pressure, and wideband a/f gauges; then a dyno! So maybe after all of that. But until then, stopwatch!

We have gotten some very accurate readings with this little tool:http://www.dynolicious.com/, when compared to actual 1/4 mile runs.

Or, to take the launch out of the equation, just time yourself from a rolling start (say 10-15 mph). You should be able to get pretty consistent and repeatable times to within 2 tenths of a second by doing it that way.

aaah nice and geeky  But yeah, since iPhones have both GPS and accelerometers built in, this should work pretty well!

Peter, what camera mount do you use in your car? I want a picture of it.

PETERPOOP
03-18-2009, 03:45 AM
I use the one where you stick the camera in between the headrest and the top of the passenger seat. lol. I got the idea from someone else who did it on this forum. My camera is small so it can fit easily. Just gotta squeeze it in between the headrest and the seat.

I forgot to zoom in so you could see the tach, so I had to use the zoom on movie maker. Lame. Promise to never make a video in that horrible quality ever again in my lifetime.

Expect more videos tomorrow since I'll be installing the new exhaust!

hows your mpg now?

PETERPOOP
03-18-2009, 04:03 AM
I haven't done a full tank in setting "low" yet. That setting makes it so I barely press the gas and the compressor kicks in. But noogie said it's around 30mpg if you do a tank in low. I switch between "off" and "low", but i still haven't calculated it yet. I do miss my previous great mpg. It will only get worst once I add my exhaust and larger throttle body.. :(

dallas
03-18-2009, 04:15 AM
With 2007 manual hatch with intake /exhaust I ran 8.6 to 60 and 16.8 in the quarter mile using a g-tech. It would be nice if you could run a quarter mile as the 0-60 seems slow at 8 seconds, the longer you go the more time I think you will make up. I think mid to high 15's

man dont worry about your mpg now. man your yaris sounds mean and thats sick.

LtNoogie
03-18-2009, 06:06 PM
Peter, where is the picture of your rear seat sitting on the side of the road? Lighten that load!

If I'm not mistaken, those SSRs are 16". Get some 15"s or better yet 14"s.

PETERPOOP
03-18-2009, 11:03 PM
WHoa noogie, what am I, made of money!? I have come to a realization that the yaris isn't fast. Yes, I've said it. One last hope: 1zz throttle body. After that, off to the dyno and i'm done!

No more wheels. I already have the backseat out. New thread for my exhaust coming soon..

LtNoogie
03-18-2009, 11:04 PM
How about putting your stock steelies back on?

PETERPOOP
03-18-2009, 11:12 PM
Put my steelies on instead of my 16" SSRs that weigh 10 pounds? I'll sacrifice performance for looks in the case of my SSRs vs Steelies.

Maybe if I ever went to a 1/4 mile, i'll put some slicks on the front and run the steelies in the rear. Come on noogie, you're KEELING me!

LtNoogie

Just trying to help you break into the 7's.

PETERPOOP
03-18-2009, 11:30 PM
It's ok, I don't desire that anymore. I am just reallllly curious what kind of HP i am putting down on the dynapack and dynojet. I will dyno on both once my 1zz throttle body is on.

If I am only putting down 120whp on the dynojet like you, I will shoot myself.

LtNoogie
03-19-2009, 12:18 AM
I don't see how a clutch will help on the dyno. Perhaps with your launches but why on the dyno? It will be fully engaged and I doubt the stock clutch is slipping at WOT.

The lightweight flywheel, I can see.

PETERPOOP
03-19-2009, 12:25 AM
I can't afford to be buying a new flywheel. Maybe in a year or 6 months.... ;)

LtNoogie
03-19-2009, 12:29 AM
