For all you audio guys out there. How important is it that an enclosure be air tight. I built a custom enclosure (first time) and i doubt that its air tight. I wood glued at the joints, but do you guys use some kind of silicone or something to seal the joints. Also i was maybe thinking of fiberglassing over the box for a painted finish. Will it old up or will it seperate from the wood and start vibrating. Thanks

a few things:
1. the box needs to be air tight
2. you can use silicone on the inside seams, just dont put the sub in, until you let the silicone sit for a day or 2 (some say the fumes from the curing silicone can deteriorate the surround on the speaker, and better safe, than sorry :) )
3: you sure can fiberglass over the outside of the box, and it will bond wonderfuly to the box, and will never seperate, but just a wanring, fiberglass is a PITA to get to a smooth finish for painting. (pretty much the reason why custom fiberglass box's are so expensive)
