Hey Guys,

I just recieved a notice from Toyota Motor Sales, USA regarding "SSC 90C- Certain 2006 through 2007 Yaris vehicles center pillar sound insulator safety recall notice".

Apparently there is a "sponge" under the seat belt pretensioners that can under certain situations catch fire right after a crash.

Of course Toyota is removing these sponges at no cost to us.

Just giving eveyone a heads up.

Became a topic of conversation around here late January. Needless to say, our heads have been up. Main thread has posts from ppl who have had the recall service done.

Just got my dreaded notice today. It doesn't really say mine is affected, it just says I should go to the dealer and have them check it for free. Next service is coming up so I'll just get it checked then

..Just great...

I'll have to call them. I don't go to the dealership for regular service. They're way too expensive and no weekend service hours.

So is it a replacement, or a removal?

Its not a replacement....they yank it out and put the cover back on and send you on your way

^Just got mine yanked today during the scheduled 15K maintainence. Service guy said "they'll take out some of it". So if I still burst into flames during an accident, do I still get to sue? LOL

Naw I'm just glad that's over with, but it's a trip how they call changing the air and cabin filter "Intermediate Service". The only thing intermediate was the service charge...

LOL....thats why you NEVER go to a dealer for routine maintence.....and people wonder why the economy is in the crapper

I wasn't gonna go to the dealer if it was just the oil change, which I would've done myself. I only went for the recall. But since there are not enough hours in the day and the oil was pretty low, I just figured I'll kill 2 birds with 1 stone and have them both taken care of at the same time and place.

As for the filters, the cabin I bought and installed myself a while back, and the air I went to AutoZone and changed it myself as soon as I got outta the dealer. No way in hell are they gonna charge me an extra $60 for something I can do on my own for less than half...
