I am looking to replace my stock front seats with some racing style seats. I would like them to be reclining and priced between $250-$400 per seat (shipped). I will also be needing harnesses to replace the stock seat belts. It is not an urgent modification, just planning ahead. I would prefer Momo but they are pretty pricey.
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Two very clean Momos - just what the doctor ordered. Except for the fact that they don't recline.
They do come with brackets and the price is for the pair.
^ We were talking about those too..
Even thinking of having him drive his car here to California.. swap his blue-dots seats with my seats then place that on his car LOL

Yes, I don't know anything about Bomz as far as their quality or weight though. I haven't seen any new developments from that thread either.

Yeah stock evo seats are recaro's but have a really wide base and also they get really wide in the shoulder area of the seat . I couldn't fit them in my 93 gst eclipse so i doubt they'd fit in the litle yaris . You should check on craigslist near you area for deals on seats . I've found tons of good used aftermarket parts on Cl for cheap + you can check it out in person first and don't have to pay shipping.

good call man, thanks for the input. yeah, i definitely don't want a seat with a wide base nor a wide width to the shoulder area either. i'll check Craig's List too, thanks.

I had troubles gettting Sparco Torinos into both my 95 and 98 Mitsu Eclipses . It may be that Mitsu makes the doors too thick ....

You might check out Corbeaus ... there a a few choices in your price range ... even claim to provide a sliding mounting bracket for the Yaris on their web page.

ok, heres my chime in... everywhere I go, I get compliments left and right, so here some info on my feedback from my cr1 seats with weapon r brackets
corbeau cr1 seats are really nice in grey cloth. They are uber comfortable, everyone I know thinks they are snug feeling, but I have the wider versions, which are like 1 inch wider in the waist..but are really good feel, better comfort than stock, and are more comfortable than our fleet trucks at work, which that says something in a 2000 leather seat built for long distance driving ..they look stock from a distance, and even the wide versions are not too wide, pending you drill or get brackets made properly.
as for weapon r brackets, they do sit crazy high for racing seat brackets, ive sat in a yaris with bride seats and custom bracks and it was a totally different feeling, weapon r sits about an inch higher than stock...depending on the seat height, but at the value its a good buy if your on a budget. i got them for now until i can afford some wedge brackets or to have them custom modified to be lower.
ny whole seat setup with harnesses and brackets were as follows
seats: $360 via craigslist local sale
brackets : under $90
harnesses: under $190
complete setup for driver and passenger for less than $700.
as a reminder, weapon r brackets will not bolt up to anything more than a sparco or weapon r seat.

bah, silly...we don't want high seats...just bc they'll be holding short people :)
if i get the weapon-r brackets, i'll just bring them to school and modify them to sit at an acceptable height
Speak for yourself! I want high seats :P
FYI driver seat on my car is in the highest setting possible lol
HIGH SEATS ftw!!!
I have noticed there is a sensor for the passenger seat. It determines if there is anyone sitting there in order to arm the passenger side air bag. What have others done about this?

What do you guys think about this set? Reclining and a very good price (under $300 shipped for both seats).

Really nice looking seats. Would you get one of the weapon type R brackets and modify it?
How about the sensor for the passenger to activate the airbag?

they do look pretty nice, but i don't know how much that counts for. i would prefer to be able to read reviews and get opinions from yw members that have the seats that i may end up getting.
good find for someone wanting nice looking seats for a reasonable price

those are pretty nice looking seats Brian. i find it funny that they don't sell any Toyota brackets to go with TRD replica seats. I like them though, they'd go well with our cars!
Dork, can you look into the airbag question? I'm concerned too :P

Hey Yall,
I recently ordered a pair of racing seats and wondered the same thing about the sensors.
It turns out that you can bypass the whole system by plugging in a 3 OHM Resister with 10% Tolerance. You can by these at Radio Shack and put them in yourself. It should fit right in there without any problems. If there are any prongs sticking out of the plug, you have to pry them out, or else it won't work. A guy named Ed who works for Recaro explained it to me. If you don't want to go to Radio Shack, you can buy the Recaro version of the resister for $20 a pop. Call him at 248-340-7616 if you have any questions.
m911gt
03-27-2009, 09:37 PM
so wait, did that bypass the sensor so it's permanently off? or so it's on? what did this do exactly? i would like to still use my passenger airbag
marlondog
03-27-2009, 10:43 PM
This keeps your airbag system working at all times, so your passenger side airbag will deploy without a passenger in it.
Thanks! That helps...
Even though I don't think I'd get in an accident in his car, I'd rather be safe
m911gt
03-28-2009, 01:28 AM
i see...i guess that's much better than the bags not working...though it'd be an expensive accident just driving alone. hah, at least it's safe for a passenger tho.
^ I think you're actually safer when you're driving alone ;) *insert evil laugh here*
