so i found this light kit and was wondering if anyone has already installed it or knows anything about it. would be nice to spruce up the interior with something like this i think but just wondering how much trouble this install is and how good it looks.

I didn't buy the Toyota lights. I went to Pepboys and bought some LEDs and wired them in myself. Cost: ~$40. Time: 20 minutes. They're subtle, but bright enough to see from outside the tints, and not so bright that it strains your eyes at night. Are you running manual or auto?

I didn't think I had any pictures on this computer, but here's one of what they look like. They're under each of the seats. Pardon the quality.. it's a crappy camera, in the dark. They look brighter than they really are without the flash. I'll try to get some more pictures soon.

It's a great little guy! I tried so many before settling on this one. But back to the topic at hand... It's been raining all day and shows no sign of letting up, so the pictures may have to wait :frown:

hmm so pepboys huh... not sure i have one of those around here but i'm thinkin autozone would be the same right? anyway i'm running a manual. what kind of difference would that make? and do they happen to have different colored LEDs for this type of thing. i guess i want blue i just wish my stock cluster gauges weren't orange ish... guess i'll think about it. around $40 sounds much better than around $150. wouldn't mind it so much if it turned out i didn't like em.

I'm not sure what your laws are like, but I've driven beside several cops with them on and not one has pulled me over. I've had them in since I got my car in '07 and the battery hasn't failed me yet. Since posting last, though, I switched the setup of the lights a bit. Link (http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16414) to another lighting thread that tells what i did and shows another's work

Can you give us a circuit diagram on a DIY interior lightning cause this is so cool to do for our Vitz's

You can also find spots to hide your LEDs under the dash i will put up some pictures of mine once it gets dark
BTW if you are worried about it for any reason Red light is less fatiguing on the eyes

I bought 2 LED pods and 2 LED strips at Pepboys and spent about $45-$50 for them. I had a friend wire them in but I have the pods under the dash to shine down on my feet and the strips are tucked into the center column cubby holes to light them up. I like them but the LED strips that I bought are too long for the cubby holes. I bought 10" strips and need to get the 5" strips. When I do this then I'll put the 10" strips under the dash and move the pods to the back so that they light up the backseat floor space.
I like them and mine are blue like enobmort42 has.

Very nice, congrat!!!
Did you wire them with the side lamps so when you switch on the headlights at night, they will light up?

i actually put them on the same switch as my halos
i may put it on its own switch at some point because im really lame when i comes to having control over the things in the car
a curse that i gained after owning my first manual transmission lol

that's how mine are now.. good stuff! well, the ones under the climate control cluster. the ones in the foot wells in front and the ones in the rear cup holders are switched, for that "extra blue" look lol

Red looks real good. I'd like to do red or another color that wouldn't be as distracting/hard on the eyes as blue.

depending on the kit or LEDs you decide on the mounting and wiring and results will all be different.
i know that doesn't answer your question sorry :/

hahaha.. thx anyway..
i did not even know it would be depending on different kits..
i thought all of them were the same... comes with a wire and LED, that's all.
what is the typical one which is easiest to install?

I placed some Sharkoon cold cathode neon lights in my old car. They were the ones for the PC. Two and a half years later they work just fine.
But where is the regulator for the dome light? Under the dash where all connector are maybe? It would be great if they come on and off in sync with that roof light :)

honestly running a switch isn't very hard
If you want to to run it with other lights you have to know what you are tapping into a little more.
