What happens if I take those 3 screws out underneath the side view mirrors?
Is there a bunch of complex winding spool things in there that I won't be able to put back together? Or does it just lift off? I feel like there's some kind of spring mechanism in there that would come apart.

I'm scared, what if it explode... like this one time when I wanted to see what was inside a 25ft. tape measure...
There's a lot of umm tapestuff inside it. And if you touch it, it explodes and there's, I'd say abuot, 25ft. of ... stuff.

Go on - you know you want to... (don't!)
Actually, I remember the time my brother opened an old clock up, and there was this little thing that looked like a can with teeth on the edge. He couldn't get the top off without releasing the tension, so he lifted the pawl on the ratchet and...
the clock exploded! Funny how releasing the mainspring all at once can do that - cogs and wheels all over the place, some of them deeply sunk into his arms. Luckily he couldn't stop laughing long enough to feel the pain..

It was painful - luckily they were all in HIS skin, so all I got was the hilarious part

Hmmmm... Western Mass - I should be far enough away to avoid fall-out

A whole bunch of nothing. No explosions.
I was hoping to be able to squeeze in a strip of 1/8" steel in there and make an antenna mount, but I don't think that's going to be possible. The screws are pretty short and there's just not a lot of space in there, even if I cut a lot of it out.

Do you design sails? Because your signature pic is not a sailboat, lol. What's that all about?

thanks for the pics... will make my final wiring for the LED mirror covers easier  I was afraid the sprint that makes the mirror snap in place when you fold it back, would jump out and poke my eye out, but thanks to you, I know it won't happen
Yeah there's just that rubber tube in there that carries the wires to the power mirrors (if you have those)...

I design boats. When I went looking for an AOHell screen-name about 10 years ago, "BoatDesign" was taken, and since at thast point I wasn't drawing any powerboats, I took SailDesign. It stiuck, even though I have since drawn powerboats as well. The reason for the sig pic is simple- it is much easier to get a whole powerboat into 500x100 than a whole sailboat with sails
www.stephenbaker.net has some pics of my other boats. Not updated for a while.
