well in first she said it gets up and goes faster than it did without. she doesnt really let me drive it much so i cant tell you hands on. put its like most intakes they all do the same thing. plus the size of the tubing adds a great roar to the little engine.

okay 125 out the door...
perfect fit for any 1.5L yaris.
sounds great, adds early rpm hp.
you get the intake, new filter, everything needed to mount it, plus hand written directions.
ill try to get some more pictures, but shes back in college and with our schedules it might be awhile.
thanks and good luck.

whats it made of

thewifesyaris
08-30-2006, 02:44 PM
The intake is made of Spectre Performance Custom Intake Pieces.
I shaped it to run down under the driver side headlight just like the AEM and the TRD cai's.
Its made to mount to the existing mounting holes.
It uses the same breather hose.
It has the Maf sensor mount in the middle, and works witht the stock Maf sensor and screws.
The filter is brand new and fits perfect in the gap between the headlight and your bumber.
The tubing is 3", total lengh is about two feet.
It adds (estimated) 5-8 horsepower, and a deep tone.
Helps with acceleration.
Makes the car feel like its getting the air it wants.
etc, etc, etc.......

have any more questions?

Does it work on the 1.3lt engine or not?

...I guess no is the answer...

thewifesyaris

i could tell you if it fit if you post a engine bay pic.
because honestly i dont see toyota wasting money making two sepperat engines, rather just one the 1.3, and displacing it to a 1.5.
but post a pic to confirm anyway.

No, the 1.5 engine is a 1NZ-FE, your one the mounting point for the filter is on the top of the engine block

thewifesyaris
09-06-2006, 09:03 PM
it might work... you might have to work with the intake for a while, i could add some extra straight pieces which might help the fit.

Katana

Does it have any adapter for the AFM?

We just have to make sure that it will fit, with the necessary adjustments!

Oh it is a device after the air filter box, that ''reads'' the incoming air quantity and with the help of the central chip adjusts the engine function.

Your engine should have this.

I don't know why you would try to sell a intake that does not work well in the yaris.
Yes it makes it loud if you can keep the engine running.
I tried a set-up just like that, made from the exact the same pieces and it did not work.
I wasted more than $80.00 just to try it.
The car would not idle correctly and when I gave it a little gas it would just die.
Most intakes made for the 1.5 are closer to a 2" diameter. The 3" diameter does not work well with the 1.5l.
Maybe it did work for you but doubt it.

I just took the loss and tossed the pieces.

worked fine with the wifes she had no problems with it, she only complained once and I explained to her that it was only because the car had not fully warmed up enough.
you might have ran to big of a filter, i chose the smallest most restrictive, so that there would be suction created verses too much air for the MAF sensor to notice. It was a bit bumpy at first but her ECU learned to drive with it after about two weeks. Did you try resetting your ECU after install?

the major reason Im selling it is that she complained it was too loud. So i promised her that i would get her another made of smaller tubing to reduce resonation. so we bought the silver AEM CAI, she wants it for her birthday so its not going to be installed until november, and she wont let me open it because she paid more for it than I did, so dont ridicule and flame me for no pics just yet. But after hearing the sound clip for the TRD CAI i think she might end up not liking this one either.

Chris I am kind of pretty sure about it.

AFM= Air Fuel Meter.

In any case, we are talking about the same thing here.

3" diameter?

i went to use a 2.5" diameter intake from my xrs and it didnt work...threw system lean codes

stock 1nzfe intake tubing is 2.25"....thats what the maf is set up for

frankly, im surprised that intake runs w/o cel's, funny idle, or odd power peaks mid-range.....

Mass Air Flow is found in the intake tube
Air Fuel Meter is another name for an up steam O2 sensor
