So i parked my car behind where i work which is usually a safe place. Went out to smoke a cig, forgot to lock my door. Came back 30 minutes later, my ipod, gps, and a pack of cigs with 2 cigs were gone....FML:frown: I hope for their sake that i do not find out who stole it...bad things will happen.

That sx big time!!! Sorry to hear that!!! They stole the cigarettes, too? $!@#$!@# a...holes!!

Happened to me a couple of times, I know how you feel. Around here you can't leave a quarter on the floor because people will break your window to get it. Even safe neighborhoods aren't all that safe these days. I see a lot of broken windows and stuff like that on a daily basis.

Cr@p!
Sux bigtime. I occasionally leave my car unlocked here on our tiny little island, but never anywhere else. Even here, in the summer, things will disappear quickly if unlocked.
But that doesn't stop it sucking.

If it makes you feel any better, they know how to unlock doors in less time than it takes me to write this comment, for real. So don't go beating yourself up because you forgot to lock. What a way to start the week-end. :frown:

well if were trying to let him know he is not alone:

my wife and I had our brand new bikes, new gel seat upgrades, new locks stolen out of our garage

total was about $350 needless to say we were pissed, but then I realized two things one from my brother and the other self realization:

Brother: "This too shall pass"
Self: "They're only material possessions"

GPS units are stolen around where I live all the time. Even if you remove the mount, if they see a mark on the windshield, they go looking in the car. My son had generic radio stolen while his car was parked in the police parking lot !! I had another friend, sitting in her car waiting for her husband and some thug got in and put a knife to her, she got the passenger door open and got out, but he stole the car !
With the economy making some people desparate and the crazies out there that are always there....LOCK THE DOORS...IT DOES HELP.

Not to make you feel worse but leaving your car unlocked makes it easy for any Joe Blow to get into your car without looking like a criminal with a slim jim. Any shitbird vandal can walk by and try your door handle. I never leave anything worth stealing visible and avoid tempting them. Sorry for your loss, man. It pisses me off, too. Don't make an insurance claim...it'll just raise your rates. :frown:

That sucks, I keep my gps in the compartment above the steering wheel in the hatchback, but I keep it plugged in to charge, worried someone will see the charger & cord leading to the compartment, figure it out and break in. =/ Don't think you're ever 100% safe. Did you have these things out in the open or did they go searching around compartments? Either way its still horrible even if you had everything in the open and doors unlocked... it sucks the world is so non-trustworthy =(

I guess in looking for the silver lining, at least they didn't break the glass or rip out the key hole.

Oh wow....I would defenitely freak out if this ever happened to me. Good luck with this situation, I know it must be hard since sometimes getting around without a GPS can be very difficult without knowing roads or directions. And everybody needs music!D:

I havent had anybody get into my Yaris but I've had people mess with it. Somebody thought it would be a cool idea to spray paint a nice long line along the driver's side. Heck yeah i was thrilled. but it came off so no worries. On a more related note one of my old buddy's car got broken into one day at the mall. They took his system, head unit, and a slingshot. But they were nice enough to leave a half full can of dr pepper for him. It was even still cold. How nice right?

Just be happy you don't own a Honda. Here in and around Metro Detroit, they would have stolen that too. Southwest Detroit has a massive population of car thieves. Anyone who has a Honda that's stolen, goes looking for it in that area because they know that is where it will be found. And it usually is. But only thing that's left is a stripped shell with no engine, no interior...nothing.

If I was going to go to jail for stealing a car, I'd at least have enough mental intelligence to steal a BMW or any other car that's actually worth going to jail for. Definately not some Honda.
