I'm curious to know how the JDM muffler that some were lucky to get, have aged over the last two years. I'm curious about the guys that live in snowy/salty conditions. I ask because I have an opportunity to get one and want to know how they have aged, thanks

which JDM muffler you talking about? I mean JDM can mean alot of different kind

there is:
Tanabe
HKS
Greddy

You gotta be more specific.
Far as Greddy, I live in Hawaii (Salty salty air and beach all around) no rust yet running on for about 6 months. The inside of the tip tends to get a little dirty fast though expected since I have only one cat and all but yea...plus mine is custom piping until the muffler.

i bet uncleyaris is talking about the trd ver. s muffler that's not available(at least in the u.s.) anymore. however, you are correct that tanabe, hks, and greddy are all 'jdm'.

Fujitsubo is about as JDM as you can get. they have a Yaris exhaust out there...good luck sourcing it though.
Only a couple members have them, and I dont know if any are here in the US...
Word is you can call www.boomplustoys.com and call them, they can get ahold of the exhaust for you, but they are pricey.

Heres the link to the post with pics and video.

Edit,
C-one also makes an exhaust for our car, but once more...sourcing it is fun, the only company I have found that sells it here in the states for the Yaris is Kamispeed so far...
My guess is personally, that the origional HKS Hi-Power design for the Yaris and the C-one look REALLY alike, like scary similar. I can only assume that they could have had HKS make em, slap C-one on it, and double the price.

Oh and Tomas, look at the exhaust, tell me it doesnt look like our old one

But at 670+ in price, best bet with the Greddy..lol

I know in areas such as alaska, i've wanted to purchase cars before. On 2 year old cars, the undercarriage were wquite rusted out from salted roads.
I'd wager that a muffler would take quite a hit if driven on a few winters there.

Awesome! I miss mine, sad I had to sell it. But I must say with over 40k miles on it, it was in pretty good shape.

I just got my Fujitsubo Sedalis exhaust. There isnt one made for the yaris sedan (Vios over here) but it can be welded on your original piping. Its very quiet, but has a nice low tone.

I got it for about $135 equivalent (converted from our currency). I believe FGK (Fujitsubo) has a Wagolis that has an application for the Yaris LB. I think the Sedalis (the one I got) was only made for mid size sedans, so I had it welded on the old pipe. But, it sounds great, very quiet but with a nice low frequency tone. I'll try to take a video clip, and post it right after.

Hi Pennyracer, sorry this took so long, but I took a video clip of the muff this morning, from cold start, to some revs at 2000-3000rpm and some full revs towards the end.

Hey uncle... I've taken mine off every winter (2 now... 3? maybe?). Anyhow... not hard to take off... stock one for winter, TRD for summer... and it's still in great shape.

Spray it with some high heat black paint (not the tip) to hide the ugly muffler body from behind.
