We have a billion (+/- a few) storage cubbies in our cars, but here's one that we didn't get!!

http://static.blogo.it/autoblog/nuova-fiat-500-interni-e-dettagli/fiat_500_dettagli_am_17.jpg

This is from the Fiat 500.

Wow... though they didn't get the box over the steering wheel that I love so much!

OK, that's pretty cool but it's still a Fiat!!

No offense, but I'd rather keep my Yaris!!

Erm... what's so difficult about sticking things under the seat?

^ not much room under the seat. I like the idea, though. People might not know it's there when they go through your car to steal stuff and it's easy access from the driver's seat.

On the other hand, I've heard too many horror stories with Fiat's and Italian cars (not including the racing cars, of course) so I don't know if I"ll ever buy a Fiat. :iono:

Dood - you've bee ndrinking Detroit's Kool-Aid again, haven't you?
Fiat's are great little cars. Every other country in the world likes 'em. They are WAY better built than the average Detroit Tank.

Not that i do drugs but that would be a great place to hide some if you were smuggling them lol. Last place cops would think to look

In 1988 my dad gave me this Fiat City to go to the University in Guatemala Central America, and I had it for 10 years it was a very nice car, Now looking back I can tell why I have a RED YARIS! and I love it!!!

Do you get good gas mileage when you jump to conclusions?

I wasn't comparing Fiat's to anything out of Detroit, now was I?

Now that you brought it up, I'd be curious to know which countries in the world prefer FIAT over other brands. I don't mean just an article in a magazine from some car geek, I mean consumers opinions.

Tomato, I know you're not comparing FIAT's to anything out of Detroit, but the anti-FIAT thing is a very US-ian problem. I drove a FIAT in the UK before I left - my sister-in-law still drives one (a baby 4WD about the size of a Smart, but nicer), my mother drove one for years, and the FIAT line sells very well over there. Italy loves them (duh!) and the French still won't drive anything not made in France. They are SO like the Yanks it isn't funny, they even hate us as much as we hated them after 9/11.
I'm not sure anyone prefers them "over other brands", but they sell very well in a great deal of countries. There used to be a rumor here that FIATs would burst into flame for no reason, and had been banned because of that.

Detroit Kool-Aid.....

In Guatemala, Toyota is the BEST! back in 1988 it was the best.

I remember that Toyota was offering a little truck like mine above it was smaller but not as cheap as the Fiat City. And that was the one I wanted, but since I was going to have it for free, I didn't mind the Fiat.

I just did a quik google search and found this 1975 Toyota tiny truck for $1800 Amazing...

I actually remember my mother had a white one when I was 6 years old!

Any way Toyota is the best in Central America!

It's the best here as well, but FIAT is not as bad as they are painted.

Fiats (Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino) are very popular cars in Europe, and would do well over here when gas prices go up again. I have had them as rentals in both Germany and Belgium and they are far better than the Fiats of the late 70s/early 80s that gave the company such a bad reputation (they were sold in the States until 1984, reaching their highest sales in 1979 during the energy crisis but once prices subsided in 1981, sales dropped off).

I don't know about that underseat storage, it looks OK but I wonder how comfortable the seat is and if it is even adjustable...

Cheers! M2

Interesting, but what if you need to get something while someone's sitting there? Wouldn't you have to pull over and let them out first?

Sorry, 3 in-dash compartments FTW

Actually, no it wouldn't be. We have access to police reports from across the country as a part of our counterterrorism mission and you would be amazed at some of the places and methods for smuggling drugs and other contraband that have been discovered by law enforcement agencies. A compartment such as this would be located within seconds of a search...

The amount of room in that compartment looks to be less than - or at most -on par with the space under the Yaris seat. Not a big selling point IMHO.

If the Feds make Chrysler merge, we may be seeing Fiats here again. I'm fine with that.

No, no, no, no... that's not it.

I travel to Europe often, France especially, and they drive all kinds of cars, over there: many Japanese, German cars (a lot of Audis), a lot of SMART's, too. The Toyota Yaris, has a excellent reputation in France BTW.

As to the rest of your comment, looks like somebody's been watching too much FOX news  talk about Kool-Aid...

Well, I agree with you there, not a big selling point! A nice touch, but not enough to make you trade-in!

Not to mention the K9 units... can't hide anything from them, I've seen them find vacuum sealed bags in a spare tire...

FIAT = Fix It Again Tony!

Anyway, I would like to see what FIAT has to offer SO LONG as Chrysler doesn't mettle in their business! I don't like ANYTHING that Chrysler makes. Another maker that I would like to see would be Peugeot and their sexy ass 308! Shake it baby, shake it!!

I love our compartments, but I wish at least one was bigger. Wish they could have combined the two passanger glove compartments, and then maybe put in a removable shelf if you really wanted it to be two compartments. It could have been a great single compartment to fit bigger things into.

I don't like ANYTHING that Chrysler makes.

They make the Jeep and being an owner of one I would say that's the only thing they make that I like. Rock solid vehicle that it is.

I must agree. I do love the Jeep. But Chrysler 300, Sebring, and some other crap are not on my list of cars I wouldn't mind driving.

Our limo company have the 300 and the Dodge Magnum limos. Lots of clients request those (I assume primarily for looks) but I hate driving them. Not because of the ride because obviously there is a size difference, but because the way it sits, the way the windshield is positioned, the console, everything I don't like.

I thought the Fiat 500 stuck the compartment under the seat because there was no glove box in the dash. I'd like to have the 500 but it's too tiny. "Top Gear" has a great video review of it. The Yaris is just large enough to suit my needs best.

so instead of saying anything about the Fiat (i don't know anything about them really)... i'll be the fist to say this would be a good challenge for someone to play with. can the Fiat seat fit in a yaris???
