I'm living in BKK, Thailand and was told that all yaris in this country have been castrated :cry:so the maximum hp we would get is around 92-93+ hp!!!!

Is this true? I'd like to check with other people in other parts of the world.

Do we have an AT yaris on dyno?

What are the results? Please state your relevant mod also.

Thanks.

Hahha you went offline last night before I could show you this:

So I don't really think there is a big difference in power between here and the US... it's just that the auto transmission takes a lot away...

the "before" dyno is non supercharged, with intake, header, exhaust and pulleys...

I could share mine as well as I'm driving a AT Vios, but not too sure whether it'll help as it is boosted. I do not have a pre-boost dyno chart :(

yeah tony is interested in comparing the output of Japan-built US cars vs our Thai built ones, there's a rumor that the local ones have an ECU tweaked for a little less power. My hunch is that if there was any difference, it would be the opposite, to comply with US emission laws, power is often lost.

wow......wow..... what we have here are boosted AT 1nz-fe.

This doesn't help me prove my "close loop" theory on AT yaris because all boosted 1nz-fes must have been adjusted so there is an acceptable air/fuel ratio to accommodate the force induction in high rpms (put in the piggy back or stand alone ECU).

I was told that yaris in Thailand revving in high rpm (eg. 5500 rpm), there is less fuel injected into the combustion chamber. Thus, peak WHP will be limited around 92-93 WHP. The engineer working in the tuning shop told me that this is called "close loop" and it is controlled by the VVTi ECU to spray less fuel to make this car an economy car.

So if we would like to make a powerful AT NA yaris, we need to unlock "close loop".

I would like to have dyno charts on mod NA yaris. Anybody please?

Or can anybody shed some light on this matter?

Thank you for your advice!!!

Anyone with a Scangauge and an AT Yaris can tell you quickly whether it stays in closed loop operation at full throttle. I doubt it.

Tony, you should look in the "brainstorming" thread in the Forced Induction forum, this is exactly what we have been trying to figure out.

Here's a quick explanation, and what we found

Closed Loop: The ECU looks at the MAF, throttle position, engine speed and AF sensor in the exhaust to automatically adjust the air-fuel ratio to stay around 14.7:1 which is the best for the efficiency of the catalytic converters.

Open Loop: The ECU does not look at the AF sensor and instead runs on a preset "map" and this means you can make some adjustments to the air-fuel yourself using a piggyback.

Open loop happens in only a few conditions. The best way we found to enable it, is just to put your foot down! 75% throttle seems to be the trigger point. And yes, in this case, if you have enough modifications to your intake and exhaust, there is a chance that the ECU is not using enough fuel. But, that is unlikely from what we see, unless you have a supercharger or turbo.

And yes, this works on our Thai cars as well
