That'll change if (when) gas goes back up.

Well, I bought mine in March! Should have haggled a better price, maybe I was the only one who bought one at my dealer last month...

Funny, but ever since I bought my Yaris in February, I've seen all kinds of new Yarii in my neighborhood. Before that, you'd see mostly Fits circling around, now there are a handful of Yarii around as well. Pretty cool!

Yarii unite! ;) :headbang:

Yeah, once gas goes back to $4/gal, sales will probably go up.

I was just gonna say I was driving the other day and passed 3 yarii in less than a mile. Then last night at winco, I got there around 9 at night, the parking lot was medium full. When I got out the parking lot was nearly empty, and all I could see was 3 silver yaris sedans in 3 different rows. I wish I had a camera :frown:

But I agree sales are probably down due to gas prices.

I see 4-5+ yaris (mostly sedans) at the university where I've never seen them until the last couple months. All base model/stock on the outside. I plan on doing mods asap so I don't look as plain as them.

God i hope it doesn't go back up... I like paying less than 20 dollars a week to fill my tank up.

hey keep in mind sales of pretty much ALL new cars has gone down... Difficult to get any appreciable ideas of the demand for the car.

Yaris was the second best-selling subcompact in the U.S. so far this year.

1. Versa
2. Yaris
3. Fit
4. SX4
5. Accent
6. Aveo
7. Smart
8. MINI
9. xD
10. Rio

like Thomas said ALL car sales are down wouldn't put much stock in that report

I can't understand why the Versa is the best-selling sub-compact. What's the draw? It's ugly and get's less gas mileage than Yaris and will certainly prove to be less reliable (Nissan just can't match Toyota's quality). Is it simply because it is slightly bigger? :iono:

It is disappointing to see the Yaris and xD hit hardest (% wise) vs. the competition.

I don't know either, Kal-El. I think it probably is because it's slightly bigger, maybe a bit more cushy?

We can all wait and trade in our Yaris to buy the $40,000 VOLT :)

I agree that the Versa is one hella ugly ass car. The front end looks horrible IMO. :barf:

On my recent trip to Florida i saw a total of 3 Yaris on the whole trip,a sedan in the Washington area,a HB in Savannah, and a Blue HB in Weeki Wachee Fla.
I just dont think Toyota is pushing the car hard enough to merit good sales. On the trip 4 people asked me what car is it as they had never seen one. And the gas back down to moderate prices isnt helping as most people are staying with their gas guzzlers.

Florida not pushing it, lol...

For about 6 months straight I went to my Toyota dealer on a bi-weekly basis, they had Nothing for hatchbacks and only 2 sedans on the lot. This was prior to Toyota stopping all production on the Yaris for the 09 changes. Now if I go to the dealer, I can find about 15 sedans and 20 hatchbacks between 5dr and 3dr models.

If your on the highways, Yaris' are not plentiful, but if you hit the streets, they generally are all over. Sedans are in more numbers here than hatchbacks, but the number of members on the site on the Florida Roll Call are majority hatchback owners.

I think the Versa sells more because it is slightly bigger (more in perception than reality), it's typically cheaper after negotiation and the interior is more conventional.
Everyday I count all the Yarises I see out on the road. In my small town of 15,000, I typically see about 5 everyday and not always the same ones. Also, the Budweiser and Coke operations in my area use them as work vehicles. While visiting Atlanta one day, I saw 22 in a single day. I recently went on an 1100 mile mostly interstate trip that took me through 6 states and saw a grand total of 5 on the whole trip. I have yet to see a single 4 door LB on the road which amazes me. I wanted one of those and didn't buy it because it's only offered in automatic. I wonder if that's why I haven't seen one on the road yet?

Here I see a few 3-door liftbacks on the road and on the streets. Haven't yet seen a 5-door off the dealers' lots. I've only seen one other sedan recently, which I especially noted because it looked like my wife's Flint Mica one. I know there's a Black Sand Pearl base trim sedan around here somewhere that I saw about a year ago. Strangely, I've seen a few "new" Echos around here recently that I hadn't seen before. There are more of them than Yarises. There are Corollas and Camries everywhere you look. There are a bunch of Yarises on the dealer lots that apparently nobody's buying but me at the moment.

we JUST sold the yellow hatchback we got during its release from last year.....

I think the yellow ones look terrific, as does my wife. I'd've probably bought a yellow S liftback if there'd been one in stock. Salesman rolled his eyes and said "You have to have a special customer in mind to order a yellow car."

On average, I see at least 30-40 Yaris's every day.

I'm definitely seeing more Yaris in Tampa area. Used to be I was the only one around it seemed. Now I have on MULTIPLE occasions found myself in front of, next to, or behind not only a Yaris, but another Blazing Blue Yaris LB ...different ones, too. At work we've now got at least 4 LB's, and I see sedans all over the place too. Regardless of official sales figures, there are definitely a LOT more Yaris around vs a year ago.
