I LOVE IT!, but for them to just popup like this in the yaris world without a headsup or anything is a little auckward. When people are usually working on something like this they would try and gauge and advertise on the forum to get quick interest.

That is a very nice power gain, and is priced very nicely which is hard to say since the PE kit costs that much with the deal. But I am wondering what this "fuel upgrade" is, I hate when companies leave precious info out hahah

very interesting...this part doesn't make any sense to me:

"Flywheel Approx. Potential up to: 300 HP
Wheel Approx. Potential up to: 350 HP"

why would you get a larger hp gain at the wheels and not the flywheel?

look at all the items they have in their ebay store...especially the prices of the turbo "starter" kits:

This turbo kit can generate from 160 HP to 300 HP. 160 HP we have seen when installing on a stock car with no tuning and automatic transmission. 200 HP levels with simple (included in the kit mods) and 230 HP just by adding race gas and more boost.

Sent them another email...hopefully they will contact me this time.

Also included a Spanish translation, hopefully this could solve any problems if there is any.

They could just be a shop that fabbed this up, cant get it perfect, but dump the product out there already.

I am pretty sure they are busy on the Email side of things, and have a tendency to get backed up...so I am giving them time, I am still going to call Monday morning.

Looks like you won't be able to run a strut bar with this kit, no?

Sabretooth
04-12-2009, 01:11 PM
You miiiight be able to, but more than likely not if the piping is setup the way it is. Maybe they could try and find a more suitable piping setup for a more modified Yaris, (me)

Yup, such as Garm's configuration, right?

Looks like it's behind the front bottom grill.

Wow, wonder why they made the piping so long. Probably to avoid taking in heat from that engine.

No clue. I know ZPI had the filter poking out just to the right of the engine. :iono: Wouldn't a longer piping slow down the air flow????

Sabretooth
04-13-2009, 02:47 AM
I guess it depends on what they had available... Plus, i assume the farther away you have the intake from the turbo, it would result in the coldest possible air.

You can see the intercooler in the pics from the Youtube vid.

Im still awaiting info from the shop owner.

Can't see the youtube vid but according to them will the stock ECU relearn and tune itself for boost or something? :bs:

Just from the no customer service and lack of knowledge, and how cookie cutter all their kits are, doesn't look like a good kit, it might work, but prolly needs work.

I know as just the turbo, a t3 is kinda overkill for the small motor and amount of hp wanting to be pushed, t25's are sufficient enough. It just seems that they only have a supply of t3 turbos, and don't want to use anything else.

Been watching this thread for a while. its cool you've done the time to do some research with the company, sabretooth. i wanna go turbo!!!

Sabretooth

Well today I called the owner, to my surprise, the shop owner has been involved with tuning and building performance vehicles for about 20 years. He claims that he is in the business of building "street kits" rather than "dyno kits"

In other words, the turbo kit for the Yaris is built for a street application, they werent trying to get monster HP numbers, just have something much quicker that blows your mind when you dont realize that you got beat by what was a 90whp econobox.

Now, he made claims over the phone that the turbo setup they have is the best he could design. Including the what I think is a large turbo for the application. He made reference that a T25 or GT28 isnt what they were looking for...but not once did he mention what specific model turbo, other than it as a Garrett, and it was 'rare' to find in the US.

As for my hopes for sponsorship, shot down...they only do partial, and when I mean partial, I mean very partial sponsorships when a person buys the kit. Promotes it, they only offered a slight price drop and any tech needs at a later date.

But, the guy holds by the kit, says he was trying to build it to be reliable. He knew what the Yaris has and didnt just bolt it up and pray it didnt blow. The kit is preset for 6-ish PSI. No management, nor does the company plan to make a management system for the kit, but they did offer the service IF it was something someone was willing to pay for.

Also they knew about the Emanage setup that could be applied, he stated that they had done similar on an tC kit in the past. (Open loop/Closed loop concept)

I would say for the money, get the kit, its a great bang for the buck setup. Or at least till people start making DIY kits.

Not unless he says what turbo is included. Sorry, but I think it's lame to dance around that - it's the heart of the kit.

I also think a T3 is not the right choice for a 6 psi set up. did he justify the size at least? Why wasn't a T25 "what they were looking for"? -- Strange answer!

BUT -- I really hope someone goes for it, it's the only way we will know!

Sabretooth
04-18-2009, 04:10 PM
He just wouldnt let that part go on what size of the turbo it was. IF its a T3, its a big large.

I dont understand why even a T25 inst perfect.
I questioned him about the size, and he seemed insulted that a "tuner" could have a concept that is different from his "engineering" background. He claimed that the turbo they use (nameless other than its a Garrett) is big enough.

He made it seem like I didnt know what I was talking about at times, I might not build turbo kits for a living, or owned a boosted car... But I am pretty knowledged about our car, and I have read thread after thread of boosting our car.

So I got an idea of what works fine, and whats considered overkill.
The Ancla kit seems good, but can be a bit misunderstood or misinterperated when it comes to why they are doing what they did, I cant even get a straight answer.

cali yaris
04-18-2009, 04:36 PM
If you can't get a straight answer now, what kind of answer can you expect if you have a problem with it? Just saying...

So there claiming u can run this untuned at about 6 psi on a auto and make about 160 hp?

Sabretooth
04-18-2009, 04:51 PM
I bet they can make 160hp, almost every turbo kit produced for the Yaris has done that.

Its kinda a benchmark, but I think it should work, but just from what I know of the kit from the owner, there are ways to make this kit better. They just are unaware, or refuse to do so.

mark7337
04-18-2009, 05:14 PM
so 160 on a auto untuned what type of problems would i have at 5-6 psi ?? would it more be problems with the tranny then the motor??

cali yaris
04-18-2009, 05:39 PM
I think the Yaris tranny can handle that kind of power easily.

mark7337
04-18-2009, 05:41 PM
damn we may see me an kyle boosting around orlando lol

Sabretooth
04-21-2009, 07:41 AM
Personally I would rather piece together a kit with what I want at this point, rather than have someone tell me what I need for the car, there is plenty of people who have experience here with a boosted Yaris to get a generalized picture of what it takes to get this car to at least 150whp on 5-7 psi.

eii
04-21-2009, 12:43 PM
There was talk at scionlife about the tc kit and they said it looks the 'treadstone kit.'

http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=4161522&sid=8dbff8e12e37e85609aa40ba41ff50ba

The fact that someone said the ancla kit looks "EXACTLY" like the treadstone one is fishy. They also have no feedback on their ebay account about any of their turbo kits. The only thing I come up with ancla are links at scion life and suzuki swift forums stumbling upon their products around the same time we did, weird. No actual feedback on any of their products on google and cant really trust ebay feedback either, so bleh :'(.
