How would you fix the economy?
This was an article from the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on Sunday. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on “How Would You Fix the Economy?”

I think this guy nailed it!

Dear Mr.President,

Patriotic retirement:
There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force; pay them $1 million a piece severance with stipulations:

1) They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.
2) They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.
3) They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage- Housing Crisis fixed.

All this and it’s still cheaper than the “bailout”.

lol

40million... paying 1 million each = 40,000,000,000,000

That is not cheap... This is 40 Trillion...
They are not paying a dollar each

How is 40 trillion less than 80 billion?

My math skills aren't great, but they're better than that. Nice try, Bob.

With the cost of housing, those 40 million people will need a new job after getting that new house.

+1

and no offense, but people over 50 had their shot at a perfectly good housing market... they shouldn't need any help. The american car companies would be good for a year, and then they'd screw it up again. Ford has gov't contracts with damn near every state and county in the country. If they could bankrupt that there's NO saving them. Let them die already.

Here's my fix. Dump Homeland Security and stop the war. Increase taxes on anyone making over a million. There's about 10 trillion a year.
