50% really isnt very dark :) 50% is legal for fronts here in wisconsin, but i went with 35% fronts, and was amazed at how much darker everyone else is, but i am still happy with the 35's :)

I might just have to break the law if the windows aren't very dark. I might just have to go with some 30% or something and tell the police if they pull me over that my eyes are really sensitive to light

I have 35% all around and it's very light...

50% will give your windows a smoked glass look (won't really look tinted). It'll still help with heat & glare (depending on brand).

I went with 20% all around, and it's just good! I found 35% a bit light too...

Apparently in NY, you can have any % tint on every window but the driver side (and of course the front). They've also been cracking down on this because of cops getting shot doing routine stops. They want to be able to see inside the driver window. I'm really rethinking doing this because of the initial cost and then if I get pulled over, it's a ticket :(
Doing everything but the driver side will look pretty stupid. Otherwise it's probably 35% in rear & back two windows and 50% in front two windows but I don't like the way that looks.

ummm better no tint than half tint... then again... it all depends where you are, and what cops you encounter... i've met some good ones in the past.. it's all about respect... you treat them right, they'll do the same..

I just got mine done 50% in the fronts, 20% in the back.

In NJ it's illegal to have any tint on the fronts so I'm taking a chance with the 50%.

I'll post a picture if it ever stops raining around here.

There's definitely a noticeable difference with 50%. I went with the 3M Color-Stable.

Good luck with that.. isn't it supposed to rain all weekend?

I always use the same recipe on all of my cars...

20% for back (back glass, rear doors) and 50% for front. The actuall law in most of place are 60% minimum for front doors, but it's pretty hard to see difference between 50% and 60%...

Back hatch/rear windsheild should be 5%
all the side windows should be 35%

doing the back side windows and front side windows different % looks stupid and cheap.

My Yaris is 20% and it's too dark.
Not only is it hard to see out of at night but you can't se in it at all. All you can see if the outline of a figure but it's dark enough you can't make out gender or tell what people are wearing etc.
When I cross the border at customs if I forget to put down my rear windows as i pull up they always ask me if there are anyother people in the car and to put the windows down. It's that dark with 20%

The best tint I ever had was 35% on my Xtreme... it was perfect
the back cab window was 5%, the 4 side windows were 35%. Still dark enough people could not see in the truck yet light enough it was easy to see out at night.

I found 20% all around is ok, but I do admit that it is a bit dark at night or in an underground parking. You gotta get use to it.

I live in Minnesota and I have 30% on all windows (except the front of course:rolleyes: ). Anyway I had no trouble with cops...so far, I guess it depends on where you live, I think if it was a jerk of a cop they would write you up along with whatever they pulled you over for. Yeah 50% is light.

I got 35% done in Columbia Heights, in the cities, Echo. I went to Jerde's and his work is great. He does make you sign a waiver tho stating that he is free of all liability. I paid him around 220 I believe. I would recommend him to anyone. You can see my tint in my Car Domain listing fro my signature.

I think 25% or 30% would look perfect. Not too dark to see out of. But still looks cool.:w00t:

I did 20% all around on my civic I owned at one point. I found it to be way too dark at night time. During the day was okay but at night backing up you can't see for crap.

I think 35% is a good percent to go with

I am getting mine done here in Atlanta and the place said to be legal fronts had to be lighter, not sure of the %. But getting as dark as possible in the back and lighter up front would give the illusion of dark all around. Guess I will see soon enough.

Can't say I heard of Jerde's...I went to Maplewood and got it at Ziebart...they did a good job...I didn't go with the high end stuff just the one year warranty stuff, hopefully it will hold out longer, which I think it will. I had to sign a waiver as well so Ziebart is not liable for my tint. I paid about the same as you too.

Yes !

My wifes work truck 06 Dodge Daytona (seen in the first 3 pics I posted) is tinted like this (factory) and I can't stand it. the back windows are about a 35% and the front are 75-80% smoked glass.
One of these days i'll sneek off with it and tint the drivers and passenger front windows to match the rear passenger windows

Glad you don't live and drive around me at night with a tinted windshield.

A couple of my helmets have 35% and 50% tint so you can't argue they dont affect the night visability at all.

You can't see into the trunk area at all. It's hard to impossible to see the back seat, depending on the lighting. The 50% definately makes a difference from the stock.
