Well i just bought a used stock shifter from cm07...plan on hacking it up into a SSK. I know a few here have done it so far...one went 2 1/2 in on went 2.9 i think they said. My question for you all....should i shorten it conservatively then add a bend like one member did....or go for broke and just take off 3.25? You guys decided my caliper color you will decide this too! Whatever YW wants so it shall be!

i did a bend just to make sure i dont have to reach as far out incase but i think even if i didnt bend it it would have been fine.. i went with about 2.9 inch shorter that stock its perfect but you can still get away with 3.25 if you want.shifting is still good as long as you dont add nst ssk kit... i took mine out its too stiff. good luck

you sitting in the stock seats at stock seat height position?
How could anyone tell you what's best on this?
It's really whatever feels right to you.

if you can bend it like ur 1st photo then you may not need to cut it.. i bend and cut shorter and rewelded back with groove ofcourse for security..

I thought cutting the shifter has no effect on the throw. It jsut makes it harder to shift the car and possibly require you to lean slightly every time you shift making in uncomfortable.

no it will reduce the throw significantly....next time your in your car grab the stick half way down and shift...you'll notice the shorter throw. Yes it is a bit more "difficult" to get into gear...but it is with the NST too and i dont even notice it anymore. I would call it firm not difficult

if it were bent at stock height having the shift knob about 2" more towards the rear of the car it would be perfect.

#3 is a great option... but i am not quite sure if that will affect the seating... as in will you have to bend or not?

well it should be here tomorrow or thursday so only of few days left. Looks like #3 is gonna be the winner. Is it strange that im gonna paint it even though i wont see it? lol

I hit mine with some rustproofer. Always a good idea.

well got the shifter in the mail today. Going to some helpful hands at work to be cut/welded. Looks like the straight 3.25 reduction has won it heh. Pics tomorrow!

how will you reach it comfortably? I have to sit so far back so my legs will not be cramped that if I did any reduction I would have to lean forward to shift.
I think Im going to just hit mine with a torch and bend it back 1.5-2"

i guess i have long arms because i can reach midway down the stock stick and shift from there comfortably. It rests with my arm fully extended, without havign to lean. I dunno, odd arm length i guess. Plus i'll have the pieces so i can always get it rewelded longer and bend it heh.

heh maybe we're both strange who knows?
I reduced mine by 3.25" and no problems. I'm 5'7" with short arms and stock seats.
