just installed these with the 2'' shifter extension. all i can say is shifting is much more precise and reliable under hard shifting. no more mushy feel and took less than an hour to install everything. thanks to Garm at Microimage and NST for producing and supplying these excellent products.
ill post some pics later

I'm also considering the extension. I never understood why people cut the levers down. All it does it make it a longer reach, and increases the effort required to shift.

I have the 2" extension on both my cars (Yaris and tC). Combined with the short shifter kit and bushings, the feel is perfect to me.

3" inches. Cause bigger is better.

shorter shifter gives the sporty feel shifting, i did bend mine closer to me and it worked out very well...i had to take out my nst ssk though just feel better without it..

extended shifter is for truck feel shifting and easier shifting as well some people prefers that and i dont mind that either but i favor shorter shift sporty feel. this one definetely needs nst ssk gadget..

even with the extension, its a very short shift. i have the trd short shift on the shift cable as well. and actually to me, having the shifter knob closer to the steering wheel feels more "sporty" to me.

I'm just used to driving cars with shorter sticks. I cut mine for aesthetic reasons as well.

Truck feel? Check out serious track cars -- many have long shifters, closer to the wheel.

If you like it short though, that's cool!

Here is an example of why you want it higher...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJps5AhTFmw&feature=related

Granted the car is running a sequential gearbox but nevertheless...same concept.

I like to lean back, and have my seat all the way back, not gangsta style, just relaxed, but also like shorter throws, so something like the extension with bending the shifter slightly toward the rear of the vehicle would be awesome with the NST SSK

I recently took off my shifter extension because the throw is just way too long. Plus my 40 dollar redline boot didn't fit with it. It does put it in a much more comfortable position to shift especially if you have the stock armrest. I just couldn't take the mushy feeling/long throw.

well i used to drive a 1988 F150 5sp dual gas tank pick-up way back, and this feels nothing like the 'truck feel' so to speak. but i guess its all about preference anyway. i feel its perfect whether im sitting back cruising or sitting forward fighting through traffic madness.

the 3" shifter extension(+ nst ssk) i got from micro image is one of the best mods i've done! shifting is a lot more precise now and got me a free armrest/handrest!

How do I get a free armrest? I just placed my order yesterday. Plus I got the cable bushings.

did not mean to mislead you or anybody......what i was trying to say was, because the shifter knob sits high now, i could rest my hand/palm and it feels like i have an armrest/handrest!

great option to do it take under a minute to install anyways when you feel like having a longer lever just put it on.. ssk is a must though...

I just got my 3" extension and already installed it while at work(since all you have to do is unscrew the knob)...It's a huge difference.....Sorry for the pics it was taken with a Sidekick '08
