All purpose/Window Cleaner
1/2 cup ammonia
2 cups rubbing alcohol
water
1 tsp. dishwashing liquid

In a one-gallon container, mix ammonia and rubbing alcohol. Fill
almost to the top with water. Add dishwashing liquid and mix. Top off
with water. Rated by Consumer Reports Magazine to work much better
(and much cheaper) than most commercial window and kitchen sprays.
Alcohol is the secret ingredient - it's what commercial window washers
use.
*Safe on most, but not all, household surfaces.
I use this to clean almost everything from the bathroom to the window.
This the main cleaner I use in my house.

Stoners invisible glass and a high quality microfiber cloth. They actually make special microfiber clothes designed specifically for glass. Will get it spotlessly clean.

Vinegar and newspaper instead of cloth.

You've got this lying around the house already. Try it. If you're not satisfied, then cook up a recipe, or spend money on product.

BTW - I recently did a Windex/microfibre attempt on mine. Haze all over the place.

Where do you find Stoners?

If you use vinegar, does that leave a smell?

I tried that GreenWorks for autos in my car and that was terrible... streaks and hazes to the point of dangerous driving

i used water and a little but of dish soap (sunlight) and it washed the streaks right out and was really happy with the results.. however, that's not really portable, so i got invisible glass wipes at canadian tire

that stuff is good too

invisible glass is some good stuff, but a clean dry micro fiber towel gets the haze that always forms over time really well.

My personal clean-all for car use: 91% isopropal alcohol, the red-label (not the 70% blue-label stuff) bottle they sell at WalMart, unscrew the lid, screw on a spray-bottle head, spritz the inside and go to town. First paper towels, then another pass with newspaper, then set the A/C to windshield and high for a couple seconds to evaporate it all. Just make sure the doors are all wide open when you do this!

Can you get the 91% "red label" at Wal Mart? If not. Where is your source? Thanks

The haze build up is caused by 'outgassing' from the plastics in the car. You will notice that after the car sits in the heat with the windows rolled up - it will be worse. In time the smell and problem should diminish. Some cars are worse that others. I had a Subaru Impreza that did it - and after 6 months it wouldn't slow down, so I traded it in on a Legacy which didn't have the problem. I noticed that when I test drove the HB Yaris the 'new car' smell was much more pronounce than the 'sedan' version of the Yaris. My sedan has a slight hazing problem, but I haven't hit any hot weather yet.
I will contest to the fact that Stoner Invisible Glass Cleaner works wonders, and it is safe on tinted windows. It may take a couple of cleanings to get your windows really clean, but after that it is a snap. I buy it at Walmart -- Great stuff!

Invisible glass is great stuff...

Somthing I might add that I don't think anyone has mentioned is that if your using rags, cloths, microfiber cloths, etc., it's important that you wash them correctly. DO NOT USE a fabric softener, just a good detergent and bleach. And when drying them, DO NOT use anti-static dryer sheets. These products will only leave a film on your rags and make cleaning glass very difficult.

Of course you could just use newspapers and avoid the hassle of washing rags.

Yeah, they stock it a shelf closer to the floor than the 70% stuff. The 70% stuff will work too, the 91% stuff works a lot better and self-dries a LOT faster from pure evaporation. I.E. It's mostly just easier to clean up and faster to use than the lower-concentration stuff. It's maybe 10% more expensive, but still only a couple bucks for a bottle large enough to wash your windowshield several times a month for the life of the car. :-)

Good point - no fabric softeners or dryer sheets!
