thank you everyone for your advice, funny blogs, and recomandations,
I had to say bye bye to my Yaris For a Sentra. Yaris was a great car but needed a little more fun in my daily driving,
so ended up with a sentra with i-Key ture keyless, push start, xm radio, leather, cruise, abs, more airbags, nicer rims, more horse power, same gas millage, onboard computer, bluetooth handfree phone, audio controls on st wheel, sunroof, better sound system, hiden trunk compartment, fogs, cvt gearless transmission, more room in the back, better tires, vsc stability, ...
Anyways, Good luck with the Yaris Everyone and thank you.

I think you're kidding yourself if you think you'll get the same gas mileage by adding an extra 400 pounds...
That''s okay though, lots of folks who get themselves buried in debt because they never seem to find "the right one".:biggrin:

Good luck with your sentra. My grandmas sentra from the 90s made weird noises from the undercarriage. We took it to the dealer about 10 times for it and they could never fix it.(She got rid of it with less than 50k on it)
Oh, and for the 21k sticker on your sentra, you could build a yaris with -
keyless, push start, xm radio, leather, cruise, abs, more airbags, nicer rims, more horse power, same gas millage, onboard computer, bluetooth handfree phone, audio controls on st wheel, sunroof, better sound system, hiden trunk compartment, fogs, better tires
I look forward to your posts a year from now reflecting on how you miss your Yaris. :)

Hopefully you took good care of your Yaris and it will get a new owner who will love all the Yaris has to offer, especially the good gas mileage. Maybe we will see the buyer of your car here on Yaris World telling us what a great buy they got on your car !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck with your new car.

Ugh so you you traded in your yaris you just bought for another car? Did you have it payed off or you rolled in your money you were probally upside down in now into another car raising your payments a month. I used to be a car salesman i could never understand how someone who has a car that they just PAYED off or still maknig payments on and trade it in for another car.
You loose so much money trading your car in since you get the trade in value which is usually thousands less than what the car is really worth. Plus you will always be in debt your whole life. Jumping from car payment to car payment.
I personally loath my car payment and i cant wait to be out of it and now have to worry about anymore major payments till it comes down to a house payment. Thats actually something i look forward too =)

Most of todays generation have no concept of buying what you can afford, the days of starting your driving in a $500 beater are so 1950,todays young adults get brand new cars as a first car and who cares about credit till 20yrs later it comes a knocking to the tune of "gee we owe $80000"how did that happen?:iono:guess we'll just have to file bankruptcy and let some one else pay for our exstravagance.I've always bought my cars cash, sometimes i'm driving a $1000 car other times a brand new Yaris. Sure feels nice to owe nothing to anyone.,its all bought and paid for:thumbup:

Agree! I paid cash for my first 4 used cars, the first and third being unreliable junkers. It helped me understand the concept of value and working your way up. After 7 years (28 now) of busting my ass at a dead-end job to pay-off debts and build credit I felt like I finally deserved my first new car. The sense of accomplishment is amazing
I say let these others have their indulgent fun, it's just amusement for the rest of us IMO:biggrin:

Between 2004 - 2008 I paid about $10,000 between two used cars, including repairs. BOTH of them ended up leaving me carless. I said to myself, "Well, if I'm going to be spending thousands, I might as well spend it on a new car!" Thus my Yaris was born.

Good luck with the car. Your expectations of gas mileage seem a little high, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

The only way you get the same mileage with these 2 vehicles is if they are both parked. Even when they are both parked though the total cost of ownership is much higher for the Nissan than the Toyota as the Yaris will not depreciate as badly.
Enjoy your car and if you like it and can afford it, the Nissan may have been a good choice for you, but don't fool yourself into justifying your decision to trade in a relatively new car during its peak time of depreciation for another new car; which you again get to enjoy peak devaluing of; by spreading misinformation. Be truthful and keep it at you wanted the Nissan, because that's the only reason you made this move.

Tht's a little harsh there, jambo. All of my kids started with bangers, and went on to buy reasonable cars. At present, only 2 of the 4 have actually bought new, and both of those were in the last year (these are 26 and 28 yr olds). My other two are driving 2nd hand cars that are better than the beaters they started with, but still secoind hand form the "lower" end of the spectrum.
My first Yaris was MY first-ever new car, and I'm 54 now. Kids only know what they are taught, and some of us teach our kids right.

My kids drove used cars when they first started driving, some real beaters but they worked. Now at 28 and 30 they have bought new vehicles. One of them bought a Yaris sedan and the other one a Chevy pick up (Colorado). Now they have payments but the appreciate having something new. The one with the new Yaris wanted something good on gas and reliable..the yaris fit the bill and the other son that bought the pick up truck still drives a 1994 Honda Del Sol to work (120 miles round trip) and saves a bundle of money on gas.

I'm 39 and the Yaris HB is also my first NEW car purchase ever. I've had a few low-mileage and Honda Certified used vehicles over the years, in addition to a number of 100K+ mileage used vehicles. I agree that you don't need to take a big loan to have a reliable car, especially with the cars of the last 10 years. $2000 will buy you any number of great, reliable cars. While some people really do spend foolishly simply because they "can", I think more people - young and old - spend a lot because they fear breakdowns and repairs. Its amazing how few people attempt ANY repairs or maintenance on their own today. I recently bought a 92 Miata for $1100 that runs like a top, and will continue to do so for years. They are out there, but so are a lot of crap-mobiles. A "buyer's agent"for used cars could be a really useful and profitable vocation.
Back to the thread, I agree that the Sentra buyer is kidding themselves if they think the MPG's or purchase price are even close to the Yaris, but maybe they drastically overpaid for their Yaris too. When fully-loaded, I personally think the Yaris isn't terribly price-competitive with some other fine vehicles (FIT, Scion, Versa), but it is unmatched for price and quality in the base-models, where its only competition are the Hyundai and Kia offerings. Above $15K, there are several competitive choices, but I challenge anyone to show me anything besides the Versa in the $13K range that has a track record like a Toyota. Even Honda, which I have sworn-by for over a decade, doesn't offer a vehicle in that price range in the USDM anymore. Maybe Hyundai and Kia are starting to build great vehicles, but I'll hold out a bit longer before I decide that. I definitely know that the rental Hyundai 3-dr Yaris-look-alike I drove was noisy, poor-handling and uncomfortable by comparison.

And jambo101, you shouldnt say most like Sailboat was pointing out. I'm one of the few that went out and bought my first actual owned car myself and making payments on time all while going to school.

Congrats on the Sentra! CVT? or 6 speed?
I've heard mixed reviews on the CVT, it's something you have to learn to love. I drove a Caliber a while ago while my Durango was at the dealer with a CVT and damn, it sounded like a vacuum cleaner having a panic attack.
Still, to each their own. Personally (not to start a flame here), I've always looked at smaller cars as a second vehicle for a household. This is the purpose for my interest in the Yaris. I don't need to carry anything in it, tow anything with it...just shovel it out of the driveway, put a few gallons a week in the tank and put up with the smaller space for commutes. I'm also a larger, taller guy, so I suppose if I was a smaller single individual the Yaris would make more sense as a main vehicle. However, it can't haul my landscape trailer...but the new 2wd Highlander with 2.7L V6 could if I lowered the final drive :) muahahaha. anyway.
