OE Alloys are 17 lbs

Wanting alloy rims that would last a long time I ordered a set of 15x6 rims from the dealer, I was surprised to find they weighed 17 lbs a piece. I really like the looks of them but should I take them back? Can the Yaris handle this heavy a wheel without taking a gas milage hit ?

These were put on as OE by many dealers before TMPS and came with Toyota center caps, there were also offered on the xB. They are 15x6"

should have done homework BEFORE you bought them. id take them back simply cause im not a fan of them.....

Well there is no info any where as far as their weight, I looked high and low. Did plenty of homework actually. To be honest I wanted rims that would last 200k miles, and I guarantee that Heliums wont. Nothing beats OE rims for me, there was a 15x5.5 Scion version that I should have got but there is no info anywhere as far as weight on OE Scion rims and I wasn't sure that a 5.5 rim would work with a 195 tire.

I am using Enkei RPF1 which only weight 9.5lb. Many good aftermarket wheels weight 12-13lb which is still considerably lighter than the stock alloys. Upgrading your rims is the only mod that can drastically improve your acceleration, braking, and suspension performance. I would strongly recommend returning the rims and finding a lighter pair. Go to tirerack.com. This is where I got mine. There are several tims around $100-150 which weight about 12lb.

How wide are the OE alloys? (The OE steel wheels are 5.5" wide.)

How much did the original steel wheels weigh? I bought some rims from a tire dealer and they are about the same weight as the OEM steel wheels. I haven't really noticed any difference in mileage because of my new wheels.

The OEM steellies (15") are 34 lbs w/ tire vs 37 lbs with these. The dealer won't take them back so I guess I am going to use them, hopefully I won't take a big hit on mpg. These things are "stout" I won't have to worry about them breaking are falling apart on me.

I had Motegi MR7s on my car awhile back and they were over 20 pounds and I didn't notice too big a hit on my FE.

you wont notice a difference...

^Agree. I changed a flat on mine last week and the alloys feel light as a feather, even with air in them
