Sorry this is a dumb question but I couldn't find it in the owner's manual. How long are the front wiper blades for the driver and passenger blades? I need to replace my front driver wiper blades but don't know how long they are.

Also... should I get my wiper blades at the dealer and stick to oem? or just go ahead and by one of those aftermarket wiper blades from like rain x or something?

Hmm...

4/21/09 *correction on wiper's length*

Hatchback
Driver side: 24"
Passenger: 14"

Sedan
Driver side: 26"
Passenger:14"

There we go... problem solved. Let me know if I made a mistake.

Pop the wipers off your car, walk into NAPA/Autozone/Advance Auto parts, get new ones :D

Don't bother with OEM when it comes to wipers, you're paying more for something than you need to.

The rear wiper is a "special" type, but there should be a blade refill you can get at your local auto parts store.

paying more?? i recall OEM wipers are 24$ the set (2 front wipers)

rain-X and others are like 16$ each.. the 26" rain-x (frameless) is 24$ at walmart.

The rainX wipers which are $16 are also the molded ones where the entire frame/body is curved... not the old school design with the 6 lil supports or whatever that the stock ones use.

Walmart sells the normal style of rainX blades for $8 a pop... so... $16 vs $24. Still a deal.

Anyone use those frameless wipers and how do they compare to the stock ones?

Go to a Toyota parts dept. and they will have exactly, I repeat exactly, what you need. No guessing and trial and error.

not yet, but, i'm about due for a new set of wipers.... weather is starting to clear up here, so I may wait until fall... no need for new wipers during the hot sunny summer.

My next set will be those fancy ones, prolly be around oct when I buy them tho. I've also though about buying the $30 silicone wipers too. I think those would last at least twice as long as conventional rubber wipers.

At month 18 and two Midwest winters on my SilBlades here, they still wipe the windshield without any chatter or streaks. I actually have to wipe them off occasionally, they get crud built up along the edge but leave my windshield nice and clean.

Still recommend them over RainX, the RainX blades just don't wipe as well, and the SilBlades seem to leave a coating behind that works about as well as the RainX blades do.

I would but dealership is closed. *sigh*

Does walmart sell those silblades?

4 bucks for replacement inserts (just the rubber part, not the entire arm) at the dealership. That's what I did. I figured that it'll be better, safer, and cheaper to go this route than to buy Rain-X, etc every year since Sacramento gets HOT, COLD, HOT, COLD, leading the rubber part to warp, crack, etc every year.

I got refills at the dealership for $4 dollars each, and they installed them for free.

i have the clearview wipers from Walmart (framless)

they are alright, but they do not pressure enough at some weak point. aside from that, i lost a little plastic cover at the edge of the wiper, so the plastic that is covering the frameless metal slides off.. especially in high pressure car washes.

talnlnky: you are right actually. but i just came back from Walmart, and the RainX 26" framed wipers were 24$ each.. My price is CDN, but i don't think they should differ much in the States, due to the poorer economy right now...

So I just went to the dealer and asked for the wiper inserts. They put them in for free. Both passenger and driver inserts / refill cost me $17 dollars. Don't know if I got ripped off or if it was worth it. It's raining in Illinois today and so far so good.. it's been wiping like I just bought the car. Overall, I'm happy. ^^

I just bought the driver side wiper and it's a 24" and NOT a 26" on the hatch.

Actually I put on the 24" and have not used them untill today. It does seem that the 24" is too short. I am going to try the 26" next time.

I've used the premium rainx ones before and they are amazing. I've used them on my taxi(back when I drove my own) an they were amazing. I could use them for a year before replacing them and I rarely needed to use my wipers because everything beaded so great(I also used the rainx windshield fluid). I recently got a set of the walmart noname brand frameless ones and there's a major difference to me. I doubt these ones last me 6 months(I'm really picky about wipers/clean windshield), when these come off I'm back to the premium rainx ones (latitudes I think or something) they don't come in the right sizes last time I checked, but, hopefully that'll change or I'm gonna try some near sizes and see what I can do to make everything work for me.
