View Full Version : What is your dream car?

If you could have any car in the world, what would it be?

Myself, I fantasize about finding a brand new CRX SI in my driveway, witha big fat bow around it. Will never happen, of course, since they don't make them anymore, plus, how often does someone really finds a car in their driveway with a bow around it? But it doesn't hurt to dream a little

How about you?

It's more of an acquired love, PK. At first I didn't like it, especially the original LeMans Quattro concept of a few years back that it's based on. IMO it could better without AWD though, especially while running a 572 HP 5.2L V10 starting next year

A friend of mine had one of these when I was in college. It was an "amazing" ride. It could really throw you back into your seats. I was in the car when he wrecked it. It was quite a bummer. No one was hurt, except for the car.

Ever since I've always wanted one.

^Exactly. So hard to find one that's stock. I'd never take a modded hand-me-down because I'll never know how hard it's been pushed (and that goes for any car in general)

I'd love a Yaris-sized hatchback vehicle that ran solely on electricity, had a 200 mile range, would charge either through on-board solar panels or on a 110V line in less than an hour, and had an option for a fuel-cell extender that catalyzes/charges solely during braking regeneration and in a user-selectable regeneration mode, such as when going downhill.

I truly wish it were that easy.

The technology just isn't here yet. Solar panels are not efficient enough, batteries are not efficient enough, and fuel cells are still quite problematic.

Opel Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse

The Opel Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse is the latest coup subsidiary of Volkswagen since 2012 and brings the most powerful roadster in the world on the road. Who sometimes just 1.74 million euros left, can make the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse as limited sports car in the garage and to sit among a chosen circle. In addition to the timeless elegance of the super sports car, the passengers lurking behind the engine is the highlight of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. Here, the W16 - cylinder is installed, the 8.0 liter engine developed from a whopping 1,200 hp. For the achieved torque of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse of 1,500 Nm at 3,000 rpm you would have 10 engines a base VW Polo interconnect ! The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, so is anything but slow, should be mandatory : From the state of the super sports car accelerates blink of an eye (2.6 seconds) to 100 km If the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse somewhere can be extended reaches the floor a Vmax of as much as 410 km / h This compares to a durschnittlicher consumption of 23.1 liters per 100 kilometers - certainly not a problem for an owner of a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse.

My dream [toy]: I would have to say Lamborghini Aventador. Love the stealth design language of Lambos. Of course it would be a side toy alongside a more practical collection of cars/SUV's.

^^^^^ A guy in an acreage subdivision near my house has an Aventador. We both have the same stoplight that is closest to our respective houses. He approaches the stoplight on the main road (more time with a green light), and I can hear his car (sweet sound) before I can even see it to watch it zoom by. Every time I've seen it, he's had the roof panel off. One time, I was able to turn right after he zoomed by. I was behind him until he turned into the parking lot of our closest Kroger (I was on my way to the mall).

One thing about Lambos, you need to be prepared for crowds of people always coming around to gaze at it. You need to be into attention. Perhaps not as much in California or southern Florida where exotics are more common, but elsewhere in the country, exotics are only seen once every month or couple of months so it is an event to see one.

I've never seen an Aventador, only some older Lamborghini's and cheaper ones like the Gallardo.

Road & Track posted their compilation of the '51 Coolest Cars of the last 50 Years' to the MSN homepage. Man, what a trip down memory lane  :

1963 Corvette Sting Ray (with the split rear window) -----

My next door neighbor had one while I was growing up. He had only daughters, so he let us (the boys in the neighborhood) help him detail it....and then his wife would cook a wonderful dinner for all of us.

1972 DeTomaso Pantera -----

My neighbor across the street and up the driveway had one while I was growing up. Yellow, just like the one Road and Track posted. He traded in a gold/brownish 1969 DeTomaso Mangusta to get the Pantera.

1964 Lincoln Continental Convertible (with the suicide doors) -----

My grandmother had one, but not the convertible. New to 'not very many miles' by 1969. She traded it in in 1969 for a new one that also had the suicide doors.

Saab 900 SPG -----

A college roommate of mine started working for his father as an early teen. His dad owned a tire center. He had an arrangement with his dad that his dad wouldn't pay him, he would just get credits toward a new car. He cashed in for a Saab 900 SPG.

Dino 206 -----

The girlfriend I had just after I got my DL had a sister who had one. I helped her wash it a couple of times and got to ride in it on the grounds of their townhome complex, but I never got to ride in it on a road.

Lamborghini Countach -----

One of my high school classmates got one as a high school graduation present. A handful of years or so ago, some family members and I were talking about our first cars. I mentioned that my classmate got a Countach as a high school graduation present. My cousin laughed (he's 7 years older than I am, and we have the same high school alma mater). My cousin asked me the name of the classmate who got the Lamborghini. I told him. He told me that my classmate's older brother was in his class and also got a Lamborghini as a graduation present. He said that, among other businesses, that the family owned a Lamborghini dealership.

1995 Mazda Miata -----

Had a gal pal who had one, and I got to drive it thoroughly.

1967 Jaguar E-type -----

My friend that I went on my first trip to Europe with (even after his sister and I stopped going out) --- this is his favorite car of all time.

I guess their being 'loose with the years'.....as they went a slight bit past 50 years with the list.
