Does anyone use the rear wiper? The glass is almost vertical, only have my hatch a few days would like to remove the wiper for a really clean looking rear debadged look. Hate that darn wiper. Do you think I'm shooting myself in the foot if I remove it for looks or can anyone please comment if its that usefull???

i find it very useful, the rear window really collects water, even in light rain.

i keep thinking about how much it must suck to not have the rear wiper.

I like having one too. Give it a few weeks before you decide.

Well, won't you have a hole on the body after you remove the wiper? How would that be a clean look?? I rather have a wiper than a screw sticking out from the liftgate. Plus it works in rainy day or when your car gets all the dirt after the rain.

However, I would like to ask does anyone know how to replace the rear wiper? Coz it seems the rear wiper can't lift up 90 degree like the front one? How am I suppose to replace it if needed? And there's a plastic housing covering it too. Thank you!

Wanted to bolt on a 911 Whale tail to cover the hole! LOL just kidding!

Pop off the black plastic cap, then you can easily remove the wiper blade

Just leeve it unless you plan on removing the motor shaft/motor, filling the hole and re-painting the hatch.
It's going to look retarded with the motorshaft poking out of the hatch.

Besides if you ever decide to drive this car in the winter you will be happy you kept it on there. The snow, salt and slush from the road builds up on the rear window like you would not believe, just as driving down dusty roads will.
yes it is that useful.

i wish it had an intermittent mode though, that is the only draw back.

yeah, found it a bit fast for not so heavy rain... and too much trouble to do it manually.

the only time I use it is when I cant see out the back window backing out of my driveway, wouldnt be too cool to drive over the neighbor kid.
Im going to pull mine at some point in time, maybe this spring.

You can purchase a nice fitting plastic cap that will seal up the whole at most hardware stores.... or you can purchase the billet aluminum one from C-One through Bulletproof.

I've yet to use the rear wiper on mine... probably will remove it for weight savings and aerodynamics eventually

same here.
while it may look nicer without one...ill choose function over fashion.

Is there a place that sells color matching wiper or can it be painted?

Looks like someone else with a Polar, has blacked out their rear emblem...

I had it on my rav and my matrix, depends how you clean your rear window, I even waxed the glass and had no water stick at all, I would remove the moter and weld a plate and repaint. it would not be visable at all! Just didnt have it long enough to see if anything collect back there, and as for snow, I would not have to negotiate around the wiper to clear? Appreciate the input, may just remove the wiper and put a big hand on it so I can make it wave at people behind me... AAAHHHHH!

Yes chris, I knew only you would see that, wonder where I got the black emblem idea???? Hmmmm YES I SAW YOURS AND LOVED IT!. Ok i said it!
Im not keeping this yaris long just playing with untill mine comes in with power alloys fog. This does has side airbags and ABS. will sell this it about a month. Can anybody do a photo shop removal of the rear wiper. Thats really what I need to see..

I love having that rear wiper! I wish it was available on my I30, unfortunately, unlike the foreign market Cefiro (same car as US-spec I30) it's a no go for our market... Oh well, guess I just gotta enjoy it on the Yaris, but I do wish it was variable intermittant... wish the main wipers had that too...

Tint your rear windows, so your wiper will match:wink:

If your want to remove your rear wiper...there is something you can put on the hole here: http://www.bulletproofautomotive.com/catalog-detail.php?ID=5229

Personally I would keep the wiper if I where you, it looks good compare to many other cars on the road....and it looks better than having a plastic cap that covers the hole.

Mine doesn't have one, I asked not to have one before I had my car...and I was greatly surprised when I first noticed that they made a special Hatch door without a hole for the ones that does'nt have a rear wiper. So mine looks clean...yeah!

lol.
Ill be moving in a week or two so I wont have to worry about it anymore...

oh and yes the kids a brat, if I wasnt afraid of damaging the car.....

I have scratches on the hatch from the shithead slaming his football into it.

Nothing could be worse than my old cavalier with hardcore tint on the back window, couldnt see a damn thing.

That's wierd... your's has the rear window defroster but no wiper? In the US it only comes with both or neither.

If anyone with a White LB wants to trade hatches straight up, I'd like to get one without the defroster and wiper. I'll even pull out the wiring and trade wiper stalks with you so you have a complete OEM setup

that's probably just for certain regions of the states (warm ones), i can't imagine cars in michigan not having a rear defroster

Well... the US cold-weather package has both the rear wiper and defroster... I've yet to see one without the cold-weather package though. The fact that he has rear defrost but no wiper may have to do with the fact that he's in Canada. According to the options listing, the US model without cold-weather package shouldn't have rear wiper or defroster.

Why do Engineers think it is necessary to put little tabs on wiper blade arms?......hmmmm,to make a Dealership more $$$$.

why?
01-26-2013, 08:44 PM
